Loving how everyone is demanding a decent pick for Bruce on the basis of the big coin the Dogs are throwing at him

...an argument mysteriously missing when we did likewise to Hanners this time last year and wanted him for a song

Bruce and Hanners are rather different situations wouldn’t you say?

Also we seem to be constantly told by other supporters we should pay up due to the massive contracts we’ve been offering. I see no issue in giving it back when the shoe is on the other foot.

Hang on a mo, didn’t we take on a huge salary dump for Sydney? We did them a favour.

Rather compare this to Hill....contracted, offering him a large contract, Freo want two arms and a leg.

Dogs want Bruce for unders in similar circumstances...also contracted, also offering hm a very good deal, full forward which is rare as hen’s teeth on the market at the moment.

Taking into account that he would not be worth the same as a player like Hill, the expectations of what should satisfy the clubs are miles apart. Why on earth should we accept 32 for him?

Carlton get Eddie for a future fourth btw - good for them. Now let's see some st kilda deals!!

the swans needed Hannas off their books ... dont think we need the same with Bruce ..

Hill is easily the most important of the 5.

Daylight, then Howard.

Daylight, then Jones

and then a fair bit back Ryder (stop gap pick up) and Butler (roll of the dice whether he is better than any of our many small forwards).

Now I am not saying we should pay a ridiculous trade price for Hill, but of the 5 he is the one who IMO would improve us the most.

As our 2020 picks have opened up we can land any player now. It is just that using 2020 picks you loose a bit more as you have to discount their value.

I take your point on locking in some trades now, but Howard and Hill are the two key deals and both clubs want offers.

Trading for Jones now means also then paying overs as we do not have the right pick to trade.
We need Hill , but not at any cost

hope it gets done

Potential 1.8 million $ handout to GC outside the SC for two players over three years.

Just so corrupt.

That sort of corruption should be referred to the Australian Sports Commission or whoever handles integrity issues at this level. Its a complete abuse of office by the AFL. They had want to be careful they are treading in some very murky waters!

And who is actually going to hold them to account?
No one, and that’s the problem.

We’ve seen it for years with their “special recipe” for compensation, getting involved with the Coniglio deal, it’s never going to change, to the continual detriment of smaller clubs like us.

What I don’t understand is why we haven’t come out and said “ok doggies, you want Bruce? Fine - get us a first rounder and he’s yours”

if freo port and Geelong can all make huge demands to release their stars, why not us??
How do we know they haven't? Why do all negotiations need to occur in the public eye? We, the mug punters have no idea what is going on behind the scenes.

Fair point. I guess we're not just as vocal about our demands as other clubs - more than happy for that to be the case.

Thats the issue diehard its being going on for so long!

The AFL Commisssion are not above the laws or code of conducts of Sporting Management bodies of the state/country and need to be held accountable. They run the game like a marxist state changing the rules of business to suit themselves and its got to be regulated.

Bruce or Carlisle where brought up to give us some trading power , but after the split of 6 for 12 and 18 - it's not a must do now.

However now Bruce knows how much he can pickup with the Dogs he wants out - he would be better for our development for King to keep him , so I feel if we can't get something around the 20 to 24 mark for him we should really keep him.

Steven is another guy I want to keep - surely he must feel Geelong don't really think to much of him only offering 37 and wanting us to pay some of his wage.

That is the sort of news that will have me stop following the AFL - its B#llsh#t -

The most struggling team in the competitions history finally gets some good luck due to a fluke of geography relating the where these kids grew up and the AFL just snuffs it out -

Sigh.

Has anyone ITK spotted gags or Satan yet?

And Saintos The ITK what’s going on up in the sky dude?

Watch the AFL media criticise St Kilda for not paying up for Hill / demanding too much for Bruce and Steven, and then fast forward to the season where the club is, again, lambasted, but instead for blinking and paying too much for Hill, whilst also being stupid in letting Bruce and Steven go “cheaply”.

Satan hasn’t eaten yet and he’s feeling peckish 😬

Damned if you do. Damned if you don’t.
The media are Kings (pun intended) of the double standard.
And that’s a quadruple entendre there btw

Tall mobile marking forward - hardly any around ---- worth more than pick 32
he is contracted , just keep him for another year -- he would be doing his best to play well , to keep the offer alive for next year.
