There's no denying that injuries took a huge toll last year, and forced players who would, had things been "reasonable", play a few games off the bench, and do most of their work at Sandy, into playing 14+ games, as starting players. I don't think Richo was the only coach in 2019 who would have struggled to win games with what was available for selection most weeks.

In terms of moving forward into 2020, the injuries will likely turn out to be a positive for us, as it means we got games into some players who will be able to grow from that base in 2020, but it also meant we had some dreadful experience gaps which cost us greatly in several games where we'd held strong for 2-3 quarters, but there was nothing left in the youngsters when the more experienced team found a second wind.

I do think that if we get a half-decent run with injuries, 2020 could be a fun season with our recruiting, and seeing some of those players who were forced into action building on that experience.

We're gonna need some new scapegoats with Newnes, Acres, Richo, et. al. gone though ;)

Roma maybe. Billings for the first half then definitely not for the second half. The rest lmao no. Not even close.
Smart ass retort? You're the one with a self inflated opinion of your analytical capacity telling literally the entire football world that we're all wrong because you and a couple of other salty campaigners say so.

I seriously can't believe you're deadass trying to tell me that Lonie who missed half the year, Savage the most unaccountable player on our list, Dunstan the turnover machine who got dropped for shit form at the start of the year and Steele who can't cut it without tagging someone had better years than by far our biggest accumulator, vc and the only player opposition bothered to worry about from our midfield.

Jog on Crusty.

All I’ve done is post my opinion (that is shared by a number of others). You’re the one who seems to take a difference of opinions personally.

I happily accepted that some think Seb was a deserved winner... I don’t think he was. And I’m not alone in that regard.

The conversation was civil until you put your head in & tried to escalate it into something else.

Probably says a lot more about you than it does me.

Going to back Winmar2Lockett here especially in one particular game, which one I don’t remember but I do recall being rather pissed off when Seb failed to chase an opponent. At the time he would have probably been less than about 5mtrs. away (25mm on the telly).
Now in saying that I’m not sure what he had done beforehand & could have quite possibly been spent, but that one stuck out like dogs gonads.
In Winmars defence, google the name Seb Ross or any other footballer & they only show highlights with very little shortcomings or clangers shown.
With a new set of midfielders to back him up this year Ross (not Winmar) may not have to try and do everything on his own.

Don’t tell old mate Crusty this... apparently I’m forcing my opinion on the entire football world

I'd disagree with all of them bar roma which is 50/50.

Some of those players you can't be serious about.

You know what they say about opinions...

I’m equally flabbergasted that you would consider Roma v Seb is only 50/50. But I’m not going to take it personally that you think that

Lol at this line that Seb had bad body language on the field and is ‘not captaincy material’ because of it.

our most revered captain of the modern era had some of the worst body language a saints player has had and we all would probably have him as just about our favourite player ever.

It’s the lack of effort after cracking the shits that is the issue.

Which is something you could never accuse Roo of doing.

Maybe read what people have actually posted properly before responding?

cant believe people are still going on about Ross , why all this hate towards him ? Why would you complain about a mid who is getting near 30 touches every game even if he does make some errors ? What about carrying on about some of the players who get nowhere near that number ? Better still stop having a go at our own players all together . We are Saints supporters , we are supposed to support every player who pulls on our jumper . Start having a go at other teams like Carlton so we can all have a laugh instead of all this in fighting .

There’s no hatred. There’s been comments passed about parts of his game that are holding him back.

I didn’t realise Seb was so revered that he can’t be criticised for being petulant at times.

We can't have a go at Carlton. The last time we played them they beat us. Also, they will be rocket up the ladder over the next 2 years.

Ok yeah sure cool. It must've been me who derailed the conversation by insinuating you had nothing but, and I quote, "smart ass retorts". Oh wait. That was you.

They got Lockett and Hall, I'm pretty sure they still owe us.
Stockholm syndrome, they took our superstars and gave us their fringe dwellers.

The fact that Dempster, Schneider and membrey actually turned out to be great pick ups is really beside the point. What they were doing was unloading surplus/unwanted players to us admittedly at a good price but it doesn’t change their intentions.

Maybe stop implying that people haven't read what's been posted and just disagree?

So i have written many times about the injury curse i put on players when i choose to be their advocate . Lately its taken another turn . I was trying to work out who to take next year which wont hurt the club as much if they end up being injured all year . My choice came down to either Rice or White . The next day both were delisted . Two days ago i decided on Newnes , and now he has left the club . My options are getting very small now . All i can hope is that whoever i choose breaks my curse. As far as i can work out it will be between Brown , Phillips , Dmac , Marsh or Sinclair . Out of those 5 who can we afford to be without for long periods the most , lol.

Maybe advocate for Patrick Dangerfield, Dustin Martin, and Jeremy Cameron?

Your talents should be directed to those who truly need your style of advocacy ;)

I nominate Phillips and McKenzie, and probably any of the small forwards.
