If he can get fit, play like 10 to 15 games off rookie list. If we make finals, he brings genuine xfactor, match-winning ability.

Yes, he has issues. Media attention, injuries, "friends", cultural impact. blah, blah.

Clearly the club has stepped aside from its good boy policy with the recruits of Ryder, Hill and to certain extent in Hanners.

He's worth the risk, If Leathers and co think he's worth it, then go for it.

I'm ok with Masten, he's a proven finals campaigner. Last time I checked we didn't have many of them.
Him, Hannas and others bring good IP and finals experience.

The age profile is much better now and includes some who will set the training / playing standards within the playing group.

Many in the 15 - 30 range are gonna have to put in big time just to get a game. Quality depth drives hunger!

I don't understand the point of delisting Newnes and trading in Masten.

If Newnes was available we'd have to select him. Age, inconsistency and injury should make Masten unavailable most weeks so we won't make the same mistake twice. Logic.

seeing we only have 3 list spots left , I doubt they will look at Masten - one spot for Biggie , one spot for a ruck and one spot for a young kid in the draft

Armo was cooked about 2 years before retirement.

Masten is like an older Acres, he's still inconsistent in his 30s though. I can't work out why you get someone like him when you're tight for spots. Training standards are a pretty average reason to me.

Not sure about Masten, but I suspect that Ratts and co have identified that our playing list hasn't got a lot of strong bodies- especially the middle size brigade. Masten is a tough nut from a strong team
