Yep will have been technically delisted to get to Carlton. He’s uncontracted and if he didn’t want to accept our offer he’s under no obligation to stay, so gets delisted. Same as Sydney delisting Membrey so he could get to us.

The media says we de-listed Newnes / so whatever we offered him was taken off the table , that is a massive blow to the guys confidence - I just wonder if the guy knew at the start of the year his future was on the line.
Sounds harsh, but really Newnes has got no one to blame but himself!

Seemed more concerned with breaking some consecutive games record
Than actually improving his game to a level where could have been seen as a leader!
His decline in the last 2 years, like a few of his mates ( Weller Longer even Sinclair ) has been stark!

It was posted by a trade rumour Facebook page. Most of the time relays information by other reporters. Hasn’t been far off with saints stuff. Sounds like a saints supporter runs the page as well.
Seems odd with Hill and Jones coming in.

Sinclair will be struggling for a game. Acres made the right decision to move on as well.

Not against Masten as he will provide good depth in the guts and sounds like he sets like training standards.
Would have to be more beneficial for a year than a rookie or Pick 120ish.
We are pretty light on for mids who can play big minutes in the guts.

Maybe the club want some more experienced players from sucessful clubs to be role models while our kids develop?

I got the impression that he was delisted so he could get to another club. Carlton must have offered him more than what the Saints put in front of him and much the same as what happened with Membrey a few years back, we delisted him to get him to another club.

Exactly, Carlton probably would have taken him as a free agent during trade period, but they were trying to get Jack Martin. By the time they knew they couldn't get Martin, it was too late to get Newnes.
Newnes is not unhappy as i see it .

lol 'ok', like all g if you don't agree but 'ok' is a kinda passive aggressive comment. Especially seeing as my post was just general discourse. Eh, losers gonna lose
No I'm drunk and can't be bothered replying in more depth.

You can't blame Jill for being selected.

If he can get fit, play like 10 to 15 games off rookie list. If we make finals, he brings genuine xfactor, match-winning ability.

Yes, he has issues. Media attention, injuries, "friends", cultural impact. blah, blah.

Clearly the club has stepped aside from its good boy policy with the recruits of Ryder, Hill and to certain extent in Hanners.

He's worth the risk, If Leathers and co think he's worth it, then go for it.

LETS BACK IN OUR CLUB ON THIS.
