Adelaide will only match to avoid administrative humiliation. It would be reckless and irresponsible to match, Crouch wants to leave and they don’t want him.

My hunch is they don’t match. Band 3 may make it less likely to match than band 2 because they know we want to keep our 1st RDP.

He has said all year his preference was to stay. We asked him to test the waters and held off Tabling him and offer until we see what compo is. We now know. So we match and he stays.

Now what I really want to see is the actual terms. All we know is the cumulative amount (lets say $2.4 mill over 4 years) which is all the AFL considers for compensation - what if the actual offer is $1.2m year one and $400k a year for the next three years - then its band 3 and Adelaide can't afford to match the $'s in year 1.
