As much as I wish we’d walk away if we have to trade because it should’ve been a free hit they don’t even want him ffs ... I don’t think we will .. our pick 15 is what pick 18 now ??? After academies father sons it becomes what close to 30?? On top of it’s probably a lottery not seeing the vic kids play who knows what the real order of kids should be ... we mite just give it up and get it done

I think I’m the only one not happy about this whole thing.

Free Agency is an absolute sh*t show of the AFL’s making.

Of course when we are looking to get someone for free this sort of stuff happens.

I don’t really care about getting one over on another club or revelling in Adelaide’s melts (as delusional as they are). I just saw in Crouch a player that will improve our list without spending a draft pick.

Just so typical (sigh).
The system is a disgrace, but we can't change it.
Exploitation is the only winning strategy from here on.

Am I missing something here?

I thought free agency meant a free hit for the receiving club without needing to give anything up, that's what compensation is supposed to do, surely.

Is Brian confused or am I?
Hes talking about contract rather than picks

Surely the most delusional post off the Crows board...

“Because they honestly believe the Crows will not match a 5-year deal, I started to get worried when I heard they pulled the Tiggers and went with a 5 year deal.
But I believe the Saints completely misread Kelly, and Olson in charge, not Chapman.
So The Crows will stick to band 1 or we match, and if the Saints want to trade you can bet Ried will make them pay.
I would be asking for 2 first rds, 2020 and 2021, no players.
Thought they would also want a vial of Riewolt's sperm so they could have a real Roo at their fake club instead of the fake Roo they have.

It's funny that Barrett had this big sook about us on Friday, and now it looks like we were the only ones that actually offered the players true value.

I know. He was pathetic because it looked like his club (North Melbourne) were going to be pushed from pick 2 to 3.

What’s Barrett going to do tomorrow. Criticise us because we didn’t game the system and avoid a potential trade.

Turn it up, the club openly despises the bloke as do most North supporters!

Don't bundle us in with that skunk.

All well and good except there would be no Brad Crouch nomination if Hanneberry hadn't come first. No one decent wanted anything to do with us before him.

Hanneberry was a good deal for us at that time.

That is quite a long bow to draw IMO. The club has improved immensely due to better coaching and the kids maturing. The Saints being a more attractive destination has nothing to do with Hanners. He has played very few games and is well past his best. You can play the leadership card, but at the end of the day, that is hard to measure. I doubt anybody is coming to the Saints because Hannebury started some kind of trend. They come for money, opportunity, to win, or a combination of all 3.

They have to hold firm , paying overs for another croc is not on.
I would walk and save for a good crack at Josh Kelly or Merrett who are free agents or Oliver who will be off contract.
If we are going to spend big money on a player using draft picks I'd rather get Taranto , let Brad enjoy himself at the Crows.
Surely Hunter Clark and Gresham can lift there game next year and we add a big fish next year.
Turn our sights on a good young key position player in the draft and hit the free agents next year.

I wasn’t having a crack at North Melbourne. But explaining why he was having a sook. And he was sooking. It was pathetic. It was because his club were going to be pushed down the draft order.

Those are the facts.

Watch him pot us tomorrow.

I think there's some serious overrating going on about Brad Crouch's ability as a footballer. Especially on the Adelaide side of things. We aren't talking Paddy Dangerfield here.

We shouldn't pay him a cent more than he's worth and that's nowhere near 800k. Personally I don't care if we pass on him. There's sweeter fish in the pond than Brad Crouch.

If we can get him for nothing on a fair contract arrangement that's fine. Otherwise the Crows can keep him.

Hannerbery will not get his 5th year and it would of been front loaded , meaning he has 2 years left and most probably on less than Billings for the next 2 years so it is no big deal , the thing is paying 800k for Crouch now when we just signed Steele on less would not be a good look when we have a All Australian on less than a blow in.

I was not aware the 5th year was contingent on anything. If so, it does make it more palatable.

Early to talk about Ben King but my initial worry is if he was gettable the money thrown at him by every Victorian club will be huge.
It doesn't matter. Either he wants to play at StKilda or he doesn't.
He'll be well remunerated regardless...

Just remember that if the Crows match and force a trade and if that trade fails then Crouch can walk away into the draft and Adelaide get nothing at all.

Its in Adelaide's interests to take the compo pick on offer. Our first round pick (currently 17) won't be very far in front of that compo pick anyway and saves a lot of trouble.

Usually triggered for games played and it was stated he had to trigger for him to get his 5th year , so he has no chance for a 5th even if he plays every game the next 2 years , in saying that I hope he comes good.

Crouch for $600k is a good deal

Hannebery wasn’t going to leave Sydney for a pay cut... we had to absorb it as a salary dump, it wasn’t like we lured him over with huge money that he wasn’t already contracted for.

I appreciate he was already contracted on good money, however, bear in mind that deal was a legacy of prime Hannebery. Injuries had destroyed his output in the middle of that contract. All we did was bail Sydney out of a bad contract and then doubled down by extending 2 years.

It is worse when you put it in the context of Hanners being a one-paced midfield with injury concerns. This is literally exactly the type of player we were not really in need of. Seems like we replaced a banged-up Armo, with a banged-up Hanners.

Hopefully, his contract was heavily front-loaded.

Start over paying players like 900k for Williams and we will suffer in the long run when we have to pay the big money to keep King , Coffield , Hunter etc.
Like as I said we just signed Steele and paying Crouch more after playing a average year and getting busted for coke would irk Jack for sure because it would me.
Do that and we are in the filths position in 3 years
