You need another category Trade/Keep

Ross, Dunstan and Billings - no club is paying $1.5M a year for three "depth" players. If they aren't starting 22, they are Acres.

If they are starting 22, will they be starting 22 the following year?
Where did you get that amount from?

Dunstan is not, which is why he is leaving.
Billings would absolutely be best 22.
Ross, more likely than not.

If Stephens and McLean are gettable, if we could somehow get Battle and/or Ross involved with a weaker pick, we'd be flying.

Question is, how good is Stephens? Would you trade out our first and say Battle or Ross for Stephens and McLean and a 2nd?

On the 3 occasions that I've seen the swans play with Stephens in the side he has been a mix of anonymous and horrendous (when he is near the ball). If he wasn't a pick 5 no one would remotely be having this conversation.
The swans would be lucky to get anything above a 3rd round pick. Avoid.

There's no way we'd trade out our first for a guy like Stephens.

:) Picked it out of my a*** for the sake of the discussion.

The post said those players were "Trade or Depth". Paying anything like the money you'd need to keep those three to be "depth" shouldn't happen because it would be shocking list management. That's why I said he needed a Trade/Keep category.

All three of them will be assessed very carefully in the light of their trade value V's their value to the team V's their contract cost.

I'd add Battle and Long to that list but only if some other club asked the question given they are contracted players.

If we extrapolate Sharman’s 5 game sample out to 22 rounds, he would’ve finished on 53 goals for a debut season. Keep working on your tan Binga..
thanks for showing the working to the class

4 games. First one was medi sub. I think he’s averaging 2.5 goals a game which is 5th in the comp

Nah - I think you'll find he's only played 3 1/2 game's because he started as medi sub in his second game as well. So he's played 3 1/2 games (14 qtrs) for 10 goals. So the maths becomes

10 goals -/- 14 (qtrs) X 88 (22 games x 4 qtrs) = 63 goals

Move over Harry we've got a new Coleman Medalist!!!

Stephens was pick 5 in the draft before last, they'll want our first. I'd rather pick our own, it's not like he's ready to play top footy next year.

Don't think we have a need for Pendlebury.

Give him 2 seasons back ended 2023 with Hannebery’s money, simple to change your avatar as well if Billings stays. 😏

If the swans genuinely have a salary cap squeeze, I'd be kicking the tires on Ollie Florent. Not a world beater but a good player at the right price.

Did Dawson sign, he looks a star. He's a half back architect who uses his long precise kicking and can play mid or forward. I'd kill for him, he's due for a huge pay rise and the Swans can't pay it.

Darren Parkin mentioned that there was some link of us to Florent on last week’s Unpluggered.

I rate Ollie highly… a very good player that’s a bit hidden up in Sin City.

Now do the equation by Time on Ground and we might get over 70 goals!

Emotional bull dust reaction.
It would cost no more then two first rnd picks or good senior player and a first rnd pick, this years or next.
Worth every cent
If he wants in, he has a red carpet waiting for him with the number 7 Guernsey ready to go, no chance saints say no.
and we will most definitely sign more members than we lose if Ben is a saint in 2022, regardless of what we give up.

I find the whole "we must bring Ben to StKilda " thing to be an "Emotional Bulldust reaction". How do you know what he would cost? If Brad Hill was worth close to that, they have a good argument that King is worth a lot more, then there will be contract cost.

I wanted him at the draft but overall he's been very underwhelming. He's nearly 25 and on about 100 games and he's not really dominating. He reminds me of Billings a bit, he's a good player but not outstanding. Every now and then he has a high possession game and gets you sucked in but for what he'd cost I'd rather take it to the draft. Unless he can walk into a midfield spot and play to a more consistent standard he's stepping sideways.

Tim and Gary were suggesting that Collingwood and Essendon could offer him around $1 million pa. That's a crippling cost because his brother would want the same then. I hope Sharman comes on and makes him less of a need.

I'll quibble here. He's 23 as of July.
I agree that he's been underwhelming given where i thought he'd end up, but as a billings replacement at half forward i think he brings a bit.

That's fair, I thought he was older. I looked him up recently and my memory isn't as good as I thought.

King is destined for that kind of money, arguably the best prospect in the league. If you asked someone to pick who they would build their team around right now, I without a doubt reckon it’s King and Walsh.

Never be hasty to dimiss players, remember when Karl Amon wanted to come home and no one wanted him look at him now, if recruiters went by BF posters we would be in a worse position then finishing 10th.

Disagree with your comments on Florent.

Agree with your comments re the draft.
