It’s time to see if Brisbane still need those two first rounders, or whether or not they want up.

Brisbane get:
Pick 9, a future 2nd, (there it goes) and pick 62

Saints get:
Pick 14, 18 and pick 60

I’d then trade with Sydney

Sydney get:
Pick 14, 60, 66, 67 and a future 3rd round

Saints get:
Pick 31, 39, a future 2nd, (back again) and a future 4th round, (we love a future 4th)

I’d then trade with North

Saints get:
Pick 42, 47 and a future 2nd

North get:
Pick 31, 39 and a future 2nd, (swans)

Saints hand
18, 42, 47

I’d then a trade with Hawthorn;

Saints get:
Pick 24, pick 59, pick 65, a future 3rd, (frem) and a future 4th, (GC)

Hawks get:
Pick 18, pick 42 and a future 4th, (ADEL)

I’d trade with Geelong

Saints get:
Pick 30 and 32

Geelong get:
Pick 24, 47 and future 4th, (saints)

Saints pick 30, 32, 59, 65

If bids are done at 21 and 22 then we would need (1329 points to match).

This would lose 30, 32 and 59, but gain pick 50

This would leave the crew with the two NGAs pick 50 and 65, while having our future 1st, Norths future 2nd, Freo future 3rd, GC future 4th and our future 5th.

According to Ralph we, "Literally did nothing" this trade period. Well they better "literally" correct the AFL and all other media outlets :smirk:. How do these people "literally" have jobs in the media?

To Ralph,

As I’ve been saying in the other threads, our biggest wins thus far have been off-field with coaching appointments and restraint in trading/focusing on the draft. It’s smart management. Time to focus on within the club instead of quick fixes.

For example, if we want to be a team that employs both Ben and Max King in 2023 then we have to use 2022 as a year where we consolidate what Saints footy is, and where we stand. Do that next year, then you can take it to the next level with Bing or other similar luxuries, and so on. In the meantime, let’s see some internal growth and youth development. We can be a finals threat with that alone. Bring on draft night!

I wanna see a big impact from the new development coach

Yeah he is. I would like Michael Hartley also as a DFA. More a genuine 1 on 1 defender.

I know it might be an unpopular opinion but I'd consider Casboult as a rookie. Can play any end of the ground.
[/QUOTE]

Im with you Hangdog.
We have a new fitness and a development coach and a pre season to get these players into shape.
The club needs another KPD and players with an engine and endurance to run out a game.

IMO; I would have a look at these guys to bring in as depth and an opportunity if they want it.
Rucking options with a KPD, plus a bit of speed run and carry.

Actually think with a full preseason and a few more games at the top level, PHunter could be a pretty serviceable ruck. Just because Melbourne had Gawn and Jackson doesn't mean we need 2 guns in the ruck (although we actually do) but if injuries happen, I've seen teams win premierships with some seriously spuddy rucks running around!

So we trade pick 9 for a upgrade of future 2nd and 3rd rounders?

Tend to agree

The problem being that those flag winning teams with spud rucks had amazing midfields.

Our midfield (steele aside) gets destroyed by virtually every top 8 team without a gun ruck like ryder giving us a massive boost.

Personally I don't think we have the midfield cattle to change that equation, because the 3 most likely potential gun mids we have: gresh, jones and clark I don't think can make the leap to genuine A grade mids like steele.

(Gresh and jones through constant injury, clark through lack of talent/application)
