Kemp is a class footballer. He will surprise people tomorrow. If he plays forward he will create that contest for our smalls and is good for 2 goals. Watching the reserves, for all the talk of him lacking form, he plays to instruction. Motlop was the one last week who looked disinterested but his talent will shine at afl level. I think we will surprise tomorrow

Kemp's forward game reminds me of our current backline coach

I feel like people underrating cumming as unproven or thinking Riccardi would be a great recruit maybe haven’t watched much GWS footy lately. Cumming is their emerging gun, their best back this year by a fair way. Riccardi has been very ordinary last year and so far this year.

Cameron and team have wasted talent for years. Wouldnt be surprised if Ricardi does much better elsewhere

Honestly, if we can get over the line against a team that has traditionally dominated us, on their home turf, in their coach's farewell game, with lots of key injuries, after winning our last 2 weeks (in previous years we get complacent) then I'm just about ready to declare that we've arrived.

We get to 7-2 and it's nearly impossible to miss finals IMO.

Riccardi would be a great target for us I reckon. Can play key defender and key forward.

Don't even need him to be best 22 but a good backup for McKay/Curnow/Weiters/Young.

Yep. I was keen last year. Can play both ends. Good enough to impact but not so good that he wouldnt come unless guaranteed a starting spot.

Find all the chest-beating a bit surprising. "Next man up" is all well and good in theory but is essentially based on structure being retained.

And hard to keep any semblance of structure intact when so many of our talls are absent.

Who takes 201cm 102kg Flynn or 206cm 113kg Preuss, one of which will be forward the whole time? Has to be Weitering based on size, which takes him away from their better quality forwards (Young out is a huge loss in this regard).

That leaves Plowman and Kemp for Himmelberg (195cm) and Hogan (195cm). I mean, neither of those two are stars but they're good forwards who will be licking their chops at these mismatches.

Yes our midfield needs to protect the defence as much as possible but the Giants will fancy themselves to score on literally every entry with that setup.

If we can manufacture a win here I will be shocked. I just feel way too much is against us. Hell even having Martin available as an undersized FF out of the square would have been handy.

Throw in TDK being up against two really big ruckman (one genuine brute in Preuss) - which is his primary weakness - and that may nullify our one remaining point of clear strength, the clearance/contested game.

Don't mean to be overly negative but just working through it I don't see many paths to a Blues victory. Our putrid record against the Giants doesn't help the confidence levels, either.

One thing I will say is this week looms as by far the biggest challenge for the coaching group, and I suspect they are relishing that. Would actually be kind of fun trying to come up with different ways to combat the opposition when your usual approach has become so compromised, and tactics aside I think they will be putting a lot of energy into pumping the players up mentally to just go out there and get it done, by whatever means necessary. If Vossy can find a way to grind out even a one-point win here I'll be mightily impressed.

Prove me wrong Baggers, prove me wrong! 💙
Feel like the Giants have handed us a massive free kick by not including Flynn. Renders a lot of the above irrelevant, as does Hogan going out for Riccardi (Hogan a lot smarter and Riccardi more of a VFL-type match-up for Kemp, albeit still a decent player).

Game on.

Also us losing our CHF and CHB, replacing them with inexperienced players, I think the odds are against us a bit.

Which would make winning up there all the more special.

Blues by 28
Defo the weakest team on paper we have put out all season. But super keen / happy to see the next brigade of kids being given a chance to step up. Really looking fwd to this game. Big test for us.

Kemp v Riccardi could at least be a break even for us.

Greene is their barometer, he’s the one we have to control. Who takes him? Doch or Plow?

Much better, but their height still worries me. Keeffe could go forward and or in the ruck, while Preuss, Himmelberg, Riccardi are forward

If Keeffe remains back, he and Taylor cover our taller players while Haynes could dominate intercepts

Kemp may have to play both ends dependant on momentum and or structure

The other thing that's worked well against GWS, tagging or paying closer attention to Whitfield, which I believe is more important than the concern of Greene

Agree. If we can dominate in the midfield and get some goals from our small forwards, absolutely game on.

What A HUGE GAME today.

Win and we start to gap many below us and prove to ourselves and all that we are the REAL DEAL !

I am quite anxious and not normally.

All I want to see is that we play to our potential , give 100%. Lost to Gold Coast because we did not do this.

I feel our best, even with our outs will get it done. Hoping for no late changes and Hewy plays in particular.

I reckon bookies have it wrong too, they are favorites...... One team 6 and 2 , other 2 and 6
Not that this means anything, simply weight of money.

Kemp will be very important and his chance to impress. Plow to Greene (IMO) will be pivotal and potentially fiery.

Jack SOS to really step up in H's absence .

TDK to use his superior leap and athleticism to our advantage. :praying:

But in reality we NEED CRIPPA to dominate the middle/clearances and hit the scoreboard as he has done so brilliantly all year .
Nobody can stop him and he will lead us to victory!

GO BLUES........ Lets consolidate our top 4 spot. It is NO FLUKE we are where we are, lets SHOW IT AGAIN .

P.S. A blinder 4 goal debut from young Mots would go down very well 😍
