I'm getting far too caught up with this de Goey thing. He is just about the perfect player for us, not costing draft picks the enormous bonus. He would quite drastically change the look of our forward line AND our midfield.

Setting myself up for a big letdown, need to cool my bloody jets!

If Grundy stays De Gooy goes especially if they are into McStay,Bob Hill & Taranto.

Play hardball with Nas this year...

We wouldn't get a first for him anyways, players are like cars.. as soon as they play a game they're worth half..

Unless they're superstars

Taranto going to Richmond is pretty much a moral now that Titch Edwards is retiring & Dusty looks headed to join the Swans in the harbour city

Why do you think the Swans have been whinging about wanting their COLA back?

Taranto suits Richmond perfectly... He'll be an AA inside mid there imo, superb pickup

If Port want NWM and hes already checked out, do it now. Why waste another year with him on the list, if you don’t want to be here, fk off. He’s contracted, pick 8 is a MUST. Take picks 8 and 9 to the draft and along with windy and Mitch build around them for success in 4 years when king is in him prime, no more short cuts

Can't see Port giving up pick 8 for him

What I’d like to see this off-season

  1. Hit the draft. Don’t trade any of our draft selections. Choose wisely.
  2. Re-Sign Paddy Ryder.
  3. Trade Brad Hill to North Melbourne. Offer to pay $200k-$250k of his contract and ask for a young player in return. (North has traded their 2nd and 3rd round picks).
  4. Put out the feelers and see if there’s any trade interest for Billings, or basically anyone outside Steele, King, Marshall, Sinclair, Wilkie or the rookies. Aim for draft picks or players 22 and under.
Not a great draft hand for North.
Without doubt, AFL would have assured Clarko of a priority pick.
(nudge, nudge, wink, wink).
I‘d take #19 from them for Hill.

At least he stayed for 2yrs. NWM may stay for another year, but there has been noise that he wants home back to SA & it may happen this yr
Better he goes this year then. Get another young kid in to develop now rather than wait another year.

That's correct, was underwhelmed by our extension offer and both SA clubs are sniffing about.
They pay up or we have the chance to work on him for more than a year.
What did we offer? Two more years? Isn’t that pretty standard?

That's true. His value can also drop a lot more too though.
That's the risk unfortunately.
If Port or Adelaide want him but aren't willing to part with their first, then they can get to work and try and find something between 10 & 20. That's definitely worth consideration. Anything other than that we keep. If he's stupid enough to have checked out then it won't stand to him in the future...as it will be clear that attitude and professionalism is an issue.

Then they don’t get him.
He‘s played a fair amount in his first year and we got him around that pick.
And he’s contracted.

Stuff it, if we give him up for less than he‘s worth (like we did with Cripps) we might as well shut the club down.

Watching Brisbane play tonight I reckon they could really use someone like Billings on the half forward line.

They seem to lack a bit of polish delivering the ball to their leading forwards which he could provide.

Mind you, so do we, so what do I know.

Just on Acres, I thought he was having a near-AA year? Serious question, if that were the case then why would Freo be willing to let him go?

Freeing up cap space for Jackson?

Thomas been on the outer and lots of talk of his attitude being an issue (not something Clarko has generally tolerated) plus we hold the whip hand here.
Might be overs but Hun reporting a late first or early second.

Thomas or late first/early second feels like overs to me but I’ll take any of em.

We have the right to simply say no, so why shouldn't they pay overs?

No-one has the right to just walk up and grab any player they want and flick some garbage back to pay for it.

We aren't obliged to trade him.
What did we give up for him?
Has his risk of being a washout gone up or down since we selected him.?
What did the cats get for uncontracted Kelly.
