Yeah I can't say I've seen much of him, Kangas haven't been watchable for years.
He's turning 29, probably a pass from me.
Shits on Matt Crouch as a depth option and will be a DFA ie FREE.

I'd have a 2 year deal in front of him tonight though he might be keener on more guaranteed game time.

Why on earth would we want a midfielder who is 29 and the worst club in the AFL is de-listing him.
We need to get Windhager , Owens , Clark and even Bytel and Byrnes more games in the middle before bringing in a list clogger.

Scrappy with Crouch , Steele , Ross , Gresham , Windhager , Owens , Jones , DeGoey , Clark , Bytel , Byrne and most probably another first round draft pick do we need depth - I think we need the class and he doesn't cut it.

I did say depth option.
We don't have DeGoey yet and we're losing Hanners, Kent, probs Bytel and hopefully Billings.

No my obscenely positive friend. We definitely could use a senior body on the cheap, and l really like the name Jed. Seems honest and wholesome.

I don't know what they are going to do this trade period , anything could happen.
The Bombers could well lose a couple players knowing things are not to good down that way.
Would we take Parrish , Merrett or McGrath if they came knocking.
With Dunkley , Taranto , DeGoey all said to be on the market we should be able to secure someone.

Anderson is just a worse Luke Dunstan who is perennially injured.

5 Years at 900k should do it

Dunkley still not offered a contract ext by the Doggies. Defs won't be there next year.

Hope we make a play.
Me too, but he is surely bound for Tullamarine. Yes the Bombers are currently a basket case but from an objective perspective they must seem like their potential ceiling is a lot higher and it's leaving me with a disgusting taste in my mouth to say that.

Pick him up as DFA? Depth?

Really? I like him every time I see him.

Why are we throwing big money at De Goey and not at Dunkley? Surely we can give Dunkley the keys to the midfield.

Yes to Gunston.

He is a far better player than Sharman or Hayes will ever be.

A yes from me too, he's still a gun forward and he could teach our forwards how to kick straight for goal.

If we went a tall back who was starting 22, who are we more likely to replace, battle or Doogs, IMO its Battle because he is seen as more versatile, however, as we have also seen, throwing him around hasn't been good for his development and I thought the reason he signed a new contract was because of the stability he had down back?

I personally don't think a backline of xxxx (tall def) + Battle + Doogs + Wilkie would work although Wilkie can play as that small/tall type, just too tall IMO
A genuine mature tall back is a list need.

Unless of course you think Joyce is still the right man to back up the list or a bunch of kids.

It doesn’t necessarily need to be a starting 18 player.

I also think Battle and Wilkie are better when they aren’t on the monsters.

Dunkley will cost picks, DeGoey just SC
Exactly, not worth 2 first rounders from us given the position we are in. Need to hit the draft.

Same reason we shouldn’t go for Tarranto. These are cheap hits, and not the type of move we ought to be making if we want sustained success. It’s about time we ate our vegetables instead of searching for a sugar hit.

DeGoey makes sense if it’s just money, but the off-field stuff will always carry it’s weight. Still a better risk then spending multiple 1st rounders on a player.

Amon makes sense if Hill leaves and we get him on reasonable coin (unlikely if Hawks overspend to land him). Again, no draft picks involved.

Some of you will be amused at this, but I’m convinced that our list is good enough to be top 4. That’s where we were at the bye. That’s where Collingwood is right now. It’s not a question of talent, it’s a question of coaching, effort, mentality, consistency, culture and just about every other bloody thing aside from talent alone. We’re not a top 4 side, but the talent is there.

We don’t need to overspend on more talent when we can responsibly grow our own from the draft, or try and lure free agents. We need to concentrate our resources well if we’re aiming for a regeneration as opposed to an rebuild.

I actually have some faith in the club in this area. I think we have continually over-performers in the list management space in the last few years and I see no reason for us to slow down now. Though I do anticipate with this new review and changing of the guard that we improve our coaching as well.

Get some injured players back, Hayes and Coffield is a massive boost. Re-align the coaches and playing group. Keep bringing in top quality draft talent to spur on our list, and let’s get this show on the road.

Lastly, I started watching the saints more intently around the start of the 2020 season, as I was just a causal supporter before that. Despite making finals that year but losing out the next two seasons, I still see us as on an upwards trend. 60k members and counting is a great indicator of that.

Big off-season coming up, and I think it’ll be quite the culmination if we persist with long term solutions over quick fixes.

yeah he's 70 & was pretty clear he's not looking for a new FT role. A PT role focusing on getting the culture right would be right up his alley though.

Not sure about the old boys club... I think it's actually a case of Lethers & Rath not seeing eye to eye.

From what I hear, Carroll has been fantastic development wise.
Why don’t we look at Andrew McQualter. He has been the Tigers mid stoppage coach and then forward coach during tigers dominance period.
With Ratts and co coming from Clarko era of success and combining both parties knowledge should come complete with our own brand of football.

Rankine wants to be a crow, he’s silky but I must be missing something. $800,000 x 5 and it will cost them plenty at the trade table.
2, 1st rnders? This one and a future.
Well definitely this one.

Gives GC 10 draft picks this year.
2 picks in the top 7.

Well technically yes but it needs way too much work imo.

Can't ignore the fact that we were bottom 4 for points scored!

Our structure relied on flooding the back half waiting for a turnover then sprinting forward to help the next contest or get over the back. if they didn't make it there it was usually a 1v2 or 3 scenario time and time again. That's a workhorse game plan for sure.
It’s a crazy game plan! I can’t stand it and it gets picked apart every week.

Why don’t we just recruit small sprinters if that is our game plan. Atleast we will be first to the ball.
