Yeah, figured as much. He's a gun but you don't give them away cheap. If Clarko was up for letting him walk you imagine that he'd want a lot coming back.

Are we looking at any other tall backs? I actually think our backline is the least of our worries. A bit more quality and depth through the centre and find a way to get the forward line playing to it's strengths. Transition between lines sill looks all over the shop and the game plan sucks to watch and isn't winning us games.

Most of our issues look like coaching ones IMO.

You know when you guys ask stuff like “are we looking at this player or that”

It’s so hard to answer because it’s not a straight answer.

I can only tell you the things I know or hear as that happens.

So if I say no, but then land one. You’ll think I’m full of shit. I’m not, it’s just that at that point you asked we weren’t.

For what it’s worth. I have been told we would like a tall back.

But I’m thinking state league. Not a starting 18 at an existing club. There wasn’t a name floated in the conversations like there is at other times.

The De Gooey news is correct in terms of figures. It just hasn’t been signed off by the board to my knowledge. From the guys I’ve spoken too, it was an indication to his agent in that vicinity.

With Rankine seeking a trade to crows, would something like the following be possible?

Trade Hill to NM for pick 19
Trade 2nd + future 2nd to BL for pick 15??

Trade 15 and 19 plus future 3rd to Crows for pick 5

gives Crows 2 first round picks which they would need to give to GC for Rankine as a minimum, gives us a top 5 pick

Brisbane need picks this year so we'd have to use picks from this draft

That pick is very gettable if we can improve our hand, but I dont see Adelaide trading that far down

Hmmmm, the 2nd round and future 2nd round for 15 is a bit iffy from our point of view. A bad result next year could see a mid 20’s pick this year and an early 20’s pick next year for pick 15.

15 and 19 to the crows for 5 is probably a nah from there point of view. They’d be saying trade that 19 up to a 10 - 16 pick you’d think. As would the Suns if they knew that was what they would be getting on traded.

No one reasonable has wanted to come to the Saints in recent times. It either takes an exorbitant contract or they have a few strikes against their character already.

St Kilda's "go" is the mature ager, we do that too well and I dare say one of the best clubs at it. We pluck the best or whomever we want from the state leagues, pay little to nothing, and they're all hungry and ready to go.

Keep adding state players and going to the draft. Stop selling the farm and the future for highly paid underperformers/loose cannons who don't give two sh*ts about our club.

The thing with NWM is if a club came knocking for him we'd ask for two first round picks, which they wouldn't do, so it would be dead in the water.

That's not right a lot of the good 1st year players sign in their 1st year
Windhager - Owens around round 15 this year, NWM was offered the same deal us them and didn't sign

Ross & Billings signed because they couldn't get the deals they wanted else where and we cut their wages not the other way around
