And none of them were over 30.They were traded for after each club had established a pretty solid core through the draft.

Agree with the first paragraph, and our best 22 will be good.
Still think our cattle was outclassed on Sunday.
We worked hard and won the ball, defended well. They just had classier ball movement.
We were missing a few best 22 but need to build depth with good ball users.
Yep. And if they do it confidentially then even better.Someone suggested Long didn't rate Ratts game plan and players last year were confused by it. The person who I think needs the biggest kick in the arse is Ratts.
Hopefully Noble interviews the players away from the coach and the coach isn't off limits this time. Lethlean did a review around everything but coaching to save the club embarrassment last time so had to hack the list only to sack the coach anyway.
Dunstan walked away from the club with really sour taste in his mouth. All the positive folks on here will jump up and down in their seats saying good riddance, but when you have caused that kind of friction, it gets around players and managers.
For a guy who is a relationship coach not a strategic one, he has got a few players off side.
We'll have Hayes. He's a big body who'll take attention away from King whilst Sharman also develops.
Definite no to Gunston from me.
We need to be developing our own players now unless its someone too good to refuse in an age demographic we need,

We've all said that. And I'm saying Hayes and/or Sharman are exactly that without bringing in a 31 yr old semi-retiree looking for a pension.Maybe getting someone to play 2nd fiddle to every each week is a good idea.
I didn’t say don’t go to the draft, you did say you only get talent from the draft.
You know you can get FAs without giving up draft picks right?
Replay that trade period without Hill and I think we'd be pretty golden. It's still very fixable but they need another coach if we're being serious. I hope they hire a replacement for him this year. Go get Yze, McQualter, and Luke Hodge in some capacity. Ditch Lade and Roughey, then Ratts at the bye.
We'd seen his ceiling - I didn't have a problem with that decision.Yep he sure showed Ratts.
How many games he managed with the Dee's?
Gutted if we lose Nas, kid will be a star. Mitch, Windy, Hayes & NWM all bright spots in a disappointing season.
Both Taranto and JDG would be nice but unlikely. Prefer Taranto.
Def need a tall mature defender for the monsters.
Sharman is a very long way off being a competent AFL forward, let alone being comparable to what Gunston could bring. We've all said that. And I'm saying Hayes and/or Sharman are exactly that without bringing in a 31 yr old semi-retiree looking for a pension.
I don't think Gunston has been so great when I've watched him this year.

Think there could be a lot to play out still with Bytel and that's why I'm really loath to see him leave, especially if its due to a personality clash.
Nobody wanted Dunstan. He had a chance to go to the Suns but the Suns coach was put off by the way Dunstan bad mouthed his previous coach and his previous football club.Dunstan walked away from the club with really sour taste in his mouth. What about a jack reiwoldt to play the Hodge onfield leader role for a year, but in the fwd line where we are struggling. Could be a great mentor and onfield forward coach and cheap.Add Webster and Lienert to that group and your clearing space for some opportunity for Highmore, Coffield, Connoly etc. Not to mention the cap space as well. My estimate would be around 3.5 million with the players numbered and those other two right there. I get if you think you can contend to load up on cheap reliable journeymen/ second chances to fill in the gaps due to injury but we ain't that anymore. We should be clearing the list of these guys and giving the list a freshen up via the draft and some savvy identification of some young talent starved of opportunity at clubs with A graders in their positions. I'd rather hang on to and give game time to Bytel, Burnes, Sharman, Connoly etc and see if thay develop in the Sinclair manner than give games to these C grade, happy to still be on a list somewhere players. If the spin is these guys are good clubmen and model citizens then get a Like Hodge type instead that doesn't have the mental hang ups and energy of a just hanging in there, never quite good enough list clogger and get your culture right with your assistants. All that said I do like Campbell on the list and playing with the kids. He has cracked in all year at reserve level and provides a level of protection/physicallity that the list really lacks.
If we want to make strides I don't think we can be too worried about hurting people's feelings.Nobody wanted Dunstan. He had a chance to go to the Suns but the Suns coach was put off by the way Dunstan bad mouthed his previous coach and his previous football club.
Think it was more Dunstan and his attitude more than the Saints coach or the club. Sounds like a disruptive influence around the place, and too dumb to keep his mouth shut when he was out of a job.
You quoted me with a pithy response... champoYou werent the original post i responded to champ. This is a branch of that convo.
Here hearIf we want to make strides I don't think we can be too worried about hurting people's feelings.
I think Luke's behaviour when we didn't offer him a contract showed exactly why we got rid of him.
If a bloke like Bytel is really going around saying he doesn't like the coaches then I'd say the same, although that may very well be crap.
I thought the "intent" of our ball movement was much better than it has been in the past, but we just couldn't execute it skill wise. Too many poor kicks and handballs. I always thought some players are just inherently good kicks and others are not, so I'm worried it is something that we can improve much on.Agree with the first paragraph, and our best 22 will be good.

Sharman was a wasted year just like Battle was last year , Sharman when he kicked 10 goals took 19 marks in his 4 games at the end of 2021 many past greats Brereton Carey Johnston were saying what a natural footballer and what a great prospect he was. Of course he should be in our forward lineWe've all said that. And I'm saying Hayes and/or Sharman are exactly that without bringing in a 31 yr old semi-retiree looking for a pension.

I am the boss, I need to put on my managers hat and crack the whip.
