We were all over RCD in his draft year weren't we? From memory we tried to get another pick up the order to draft him.
What does it say about Richmond player development...just saying we are not yhe only club that discards top end talent. Get him in and see how he goes nothing to lose.

Same with Stack lose unit gees he will fit in well at Saints.

You just never know in the raffle of life.

Not inside info.

My personal opinion.

Focus on youth and draft is what we understand based off the last 24 hours.

1 first rounder next year.

- Clark’s agent pretty much saying he is leaving and we want him to leave.

- strong rumours on NWM being home sick

- Marshall will be 28 in 12 months.

- Gresh 26 next year.

That’s our currency.

****** if it’s as good as touted draft wise. You would imagine we won’t dip a toe in. But cannonball into it.

It would realign the list both demographic and talent wise

I agree if you are going to reset you need to let some quality go to get the draft picks in. For all the talk that we can't attract talent to the club we also hardly ever have anyone that wants to leave. You need churn if you want change.

1 first rounder per year will not reset the club. We can debate who is expendable and who might bring the right return but if we jealously hold on to all our talent we will just stay where we are.

Personally Clark and Gresh's actual value to us winning games is more hypothetical than real. Marshall is more important but bit shocked that he is turning 28 and we are only now saying he is ready to be the No.1 Ruck. NWM that would depend if he forces the issue. But the whole list should be considered. We need a shake up.

We are pretty much where we are because we churned so much. There is churn and then there is just doing stuff without a plan and hoping to win the lottery.

How we got a D rating for our drafting yet Sydney did less and got a B.

Whole thing is just a wank. We said we would not be active guess what we weren't.

Just because it does not fit the media narrative does not say that we are wrong.

Hunter got a lesson in how little value others outside of Saints think of him. Wake up call HC wake up call. Perhaps you are not as good as you think you are.

Your call HC go hard or go to Norf and play with your loser mates.

Heading to Tassie in April, Verdun, any “must do’s”?
North of Launceston if you like this sort of thing there is a penguin colony, the same one as Phillip Is. Instead of being in concrete stands with a thousand tourists, you stand on the beach as the penguins walk to their hutches. The only people with torches are the guides. Maybe a couple of dozen in groups of six, pretty awesome.

I'd have thought we'd be happy with any or all of those guys. It's a stark contrast of where the two clubs are at..
Bytel has out performed RCD's and is still awaiting a contract so not really

Stack is good enough to be on a list but he has issues off the field that are holding him back

I think Walsh will have a good look, and a plan devised. It might be to stick with what they are now doing. It might be to fillet the list and start again.

Our ineptitude and bad luck in trading, drafting and development in the last 10 years or so has put us so far behind the 8 ball. With a few exceptions.

Very sad, but we are where we are. No sugar coating it. Very little elite talent and very little trade capital. That was why I have been keen to get drafting.

I'll send you some info - yep Mowman is right Barnbougle is stunning and enjoyable. Go there twice a year.

Well that would be the plan obviously. Not sure why you have such an aversion to the draft it is ultimately the only way you really change your fortunes. Look at Freo players want to leave Hill Cera etc. At the end of the day they are in a far better state thanks to the draft picks they got for them.

Just got to do a better job at drafting than we did 10 years ago

I have been asking us to draft properly for 10 years. Nothing wrong with the draft but selling a player that is still young and has potential to take a player who is young and has potential is not going to move us forward. Bottoming out is not really an option but having a policy to take all high picks to the draft except in exceptional circumstances and topping up through trades and FA but responsibly is good management. The landscape is changing in trades. More player movement of better players for less capital is going to be more common after this TP. If we don't adjust to it quickly we will lose players and not replace them quick enough and become a factory to develop players for others to steal.

Drafting your top end talent is how it's done. We should have been doing it when we had good picks and it's a big part of why we are shit. Topping up has made us too good for high picks but not good enough for finals. We have to keep as much of the good players under 28 together and try to lad up for a finals series in 2024 or we could miss the boat. Just keep adding pieces and hope it's enough. Once you have momentum it's easier to attract top talent.

To be fair they have a good list but lack some outside run. He got there for pretty much free and off a great year. It was a good single trade. Probably could have looked for a small forward to finish off their list but perhaps they'll draft one.

2009/2010/Seaford are the root causes of the problems of the last 10 years.

Cost us heavily from both a footy and financial perspective. Left us with mountains of debt and a poor list.

The only positive is that the push for a Tassie team was not as strong at the time otherwise that's where we'd be right now.

I'd argue Roo, BJ and Joey are more a cause of the issues than the move to Seaford.

The tail wagged the dog far too easily back then.

A stronger admin would have given them all a clip and told them to focus on football rather than the long term admin of the club.

It will take Mr WALSH little time to evaluate and design a plan....that's what WALSH's do?

though it is difficult to fully understand the potentially conflicting truths that exist simultaneously.........(Scrodinger's Cat} If our Our list is as bad as is said...then RATTS is doing pretty well and has some claim to be a great Coach OR the list is pretty good and he is a RATT shite Coach.

Frst I think we have to get the right Coach to get the right fundamentals in place.

I don't think we really know what we could do with what we've got!

That was my plan for this trade period but I am starting to think that is just going to keep us where we are. You will probably be closer to the pin than Stav's hypothetical when we get to next year, but I think your optimism about player trades changing is optimistic most of the decent players traded went for high cost and big multi year salaries. More players got traded but not cheaper and the TPP is going way up so Salary Dumps are a momentary illusion. What you are seeing as a buyers market I think is a sellers market.

I am not saying gut the list, be selective like they tried to be with Hill and Clark, but hopefully a little more successfully.
