All this seems a little to convenient and the prices are starting to click together.

My read, north have known about this JHF request for a while and so have the saints. Hence the leak of trading Clark ‘for the right price’ and all of a sudden the right price might be available!! To the club Clark is happy to go to!!

Please

I am thinking pick 8 been in the table for Clark for a while.
No chance.

JHF was apparently all in when he met with Clarko.

This would be a baseball bat to the head from a mate when you turn your back.

Think you might be onto something.

North should cut their losses with Horne-Francis. Pick 8, a second and a future first with a third and future third going back. Play hard ball but get him out of the club.

North will be disappointed with the young man. Rightly so.

They need a win. They probably need to get some ready made talent into the club. And they may need to pay overs.

JHF was always leaving from the second North drafted him.

They should have done their due diligence better and picked someone else or taken the 3 first rounders offered by the crows.

In saying that the AFL should make all first round draft picks a compulsory 3 year contract.

Should have picked Darcy or daicos. Better players and local

I'd happily take Ports pick 8 for Clark.

Let North have their own Lachie Weller overpaying moment.

so..we use Pick 7 on Clark, have four years of unlucky injuries and indifferent form, then on the off-chance Norf are stupid enough to agree to it, ship him out for a Pick 8 ...and therefore start again where we were 4 years ago.

Can someone explain the logic in that?

M8, take that deal Norf, he’s a talented kid but his back end of the year was meh and his attitude is obviously not great. A top 10 pick and who knows what next year, probably a pick around the same spot. Just move on from him.
I’d imagine it’s hard when you could have had Rachele and pick 5 this year from the crows along with your pick 1

Agree. JHF rumours were there mid season and lo and behold...

Agreed. Pick 8 and a future likely top 10 pick isnt that bad a return and they are better off ejecting players that dont want to be there no matter what.

There is no "logic" in it, its just the reality. The club obviously wants Clark to just pull his finger out and train hard rather then trade him out but if Clark IS insisting on leaving as opposed to just acting shitty for a bit then we should absolutely make the best of it.

Now I know players are usually able to stay mates with their former team mates when they leave but you’d think this scenario the players would hate his guts. Wouldn’t be many invites to the post game holidays for him

You watch his attitude get a whole lot better when he gets what he wanted all along… 😏

Seems logical. Maybe the Clarkson thing has forced it to a head.

The hit rate of the number 1 pick is pretty low, particularly when you consider how highly valued it is.

Since 2000, probably only Roo, Hodge, BJ, Cooney and Walsh have been worth the pick.

Hindsight would say that North should have trade 1 to Adelaide last year, but if Port offer 8 and another top 10 pick, I'd say take it and run. I wish that we'd done something similar in 2014 with McCartin

Maybe we don’t think he’s going to be the midfielder we thought he’d be?
Maybe this time we actually draft one, not one we hope to turn into one?

Honestly have no idea. His unfortunate injuries have set his development back, so maybe he’s only two years ahead of a new draftee, not the four years he’s actually been at the club?
