Taking academy players out of equation

Top 5 is standout
Reid
Mckercher
Curtin
Duursma
Watson

Then drop off to
Wilson
Sanders
O’Sullivan

Then another drop off I reckon

So 5 then 3 then even after that I think
Watson doesn't look that impressive to me. But I'm only going off a few highlights. His kicking looks pretty average.

I'd it just me or have the dogs way overpaid for pick 4?

I can see them missing finals again.
If you think of pick 17 being used for Croft (or a variation of that pick - ie banking 3rd rounders they received and using other later picks they have to pay the value of the croft bid), then the deal is pick 10 + F1 for pick 4 which is not out of the realms of whats reasonable

If you get a chance go watch his game against WA in the championships

He’s a unique absolute freakish small forward at his best as clever as Eddie Betts ( Obvs got a fair way to go to have a career like that )

He’s better at snaps and bananas than drop punts to be fair , seen him kick some absolute freak goals

Not a fan of Caddy?

But it does make it pretty thin by the time our pick comers around. Might need a crack a Geelong's pick.

Who’s in your next drop off? Because I reckon that’s who we’re choosing from at 9 and possibly 10 (one of Wilson/O’Sullivan/Sanders could slide but I’m not relying on it)

For me I’ve got (non-academy/FS) M Edwards, Windsor, Leake, and maybe Koen Sanchez. Right now, Leake and Windsor seem to be the most likely to be taken earlier

Definitely Leake

Windsor and Graham possibly

Sanchez I like but maybe not for us

Then it’s very open I reckon , this is the hard part where clubs will rate guys differently

If we had 9,10 and a pick in 20s I’d like Edwards with the 20s pick

That's the question, I guess. We can probably get Edwards with the same pick as Barnett.

Edwards seems to have gone down in estimations over the last couple of months of Colts, but maybe that's unfair?
Slightly underwhelming year

But size athleticism footy smarts is much better than Barnett

Barnett looked a bit of his depth in wafl this year apparently but it’s rucks … you never really know until they’re 24 most of the time unless they’re a freak like Ethan Read

Sanchez is a weird one, I actually think he does fill a need if Rash moves into the middle relatively soon. But it’s not a pressing area of need. He’s a bit like my Darcy Jones of this year, small but incredibly talented

I’m higher on Edwards than most it seems, still think he has incredible talent and potential, but will take him a while to get there

Guys like Tholstrup and DeMattia close, but not quite there for mine

So, is the end of first round compensation pick classed as a first or a second? Will it be taken on the first day or second day of the draft?

It's a first rounder, so on night one.

AFL announced it today as pick 19, actually ahead of North's end of first round assistance pick.

I don’t get how this works, what if there’s another end of first rd compensation pick handed out, who goes first? Hopefully the AFL apply some sound logic like we do because Adelaide starts with the letter A.

I assume it will then be based on ladder position.
