I could absolutely see a side like Geelong look at McHenry..they pulled Stengle from the scrap heap we put him on and he thrived for a while and helped them win a flag

McHenry might give them some pressure and on that cigar shaped home ground, that might work a treat for them and he will be low cost

Gollant is another we should have looked to move on from this year. Good prospect in a sector where you have to be a great prospect to get a look in, seeing we're well set with tall-forwards.
You think Himmelberg is going to come good do ya ?
Or Tex play for another 5 years
How many 3rd talls do we have ?

The AFL aren't going to want every team staying away from Tasmanian players between now and 2028 because the list managers fully expecting a mass walk out in 4 seasons time. That would be worst case scenario for the Tassie team, and a disaster for the AFL.

I assume there is already a fairly juicy compo package for teams who take Tasmanian player being discussed to keep recruiters interested. Otherwise you are 100% right, you simply would take the non Tassie player at every selection.
Agree.
This is especially so for project players or players who cannot be "useful" immediately.
Imagine being a Tasmanian 18 year old 205cm skinny ruckman in any draft between now and 2028!! No team would touch this guy. He simply offers zero value.

The AFL will be aware of this. Hopefully, the new guy has this as an urgent fix.

One idea... player takes a list spot but salary sits outside the cap. Other than the list spot, this becomes a "free hit" for clubs.

You rate Murphy but want us to move on from Gollant and McAdam?

I'm not sure that's a view shared by too many on here.

3 years at his age and injury history seems like a very good offer to me.
A very good offer, for a very good player. Not sure he'd be getting 3 years anywhere else so I'm hopeful of keeping him and going with a fingers crossed approach he's on the park more than off it. He's an exceptional talent with X factor. Only hope he's there when it really counts.

Shane McAdam for me is definitely not in the 'must not lose category'.

Gollant can't play SANFL forever, he has something to offer.

Sometimes it can be hard to find players to let go that other clubs may have interest in, Shane may be that guy.
I agree. I like McAdam but trading him out would be (dare I say it) a moneyball trade

I think his value is as high as its ever going to get and its an area we can afford to trade down from

I see similarities with when McGovern left us. Both at similar levels performance wise, but McGovern was 4 years younger when he left.

McAdam will be 29 next year.

If he can get 4 years somewhere else he should take it and we wish him the best.

-He is definitely not an integral part of our forwardline.

-Our forwardline is an area we are strong, we can wear losing him.

-It's the sort of trade the Power would do if it unlocks a GC pick 4 trade or a Cox trade.

-We may even land at the draft with a 2nd rounder right in the Moir range.

Great work signing up Sloane and Murphy but letting McAdam go.

We really are a stupid club.
I don't think one has to do with the other, my bet would be it being more about them being very comfortable with Gollant stepping up.

We want to give the kids a shot, here's could be a very good example of us doing it.
