I wonder if there's any link between McAdam going out and our supposed interest in Chris Burgess from Gold Coast? Not sure if that's already been raised here, no threadmark that I can see, or maybe it's already been debunked?

With Gollant waiting his turn and us (for some reason) being interested in Burgess, I guess we can afford to let McAdam go? Or maybe it's more Burgess being surplus to requirements at Gold Coast and the fact he's from SA means the media are putting 2 + 2 = 5 and reporting it as being "Crows circling Burgess!".
They’re two totally different players though lol

Our list management team need to be rounded up and shot if they think Burgess is a replacement for McAdam.

I'd happily take Jeffrey or Rosas though.

I'd assumed they looked at Burgess cause he's a bit bigger and they may try to develop him as a bit of a switchman. Forward, defender and has played a bit of ruck too.

I'd much rather play Cook/Gollant in McAdam's role next season than even contemplate bringing Burgess in. A huge opportunity for either of those players to step up.

Burgess is contracted so it's a salary dump trade with their pick 4 being involve in the trade?

I think it's fair to assume no-one would pay 2 x top 10 picks for a KPD pre-agent mate.

Probably fair to assume no-one would ask it either.
probably fair to assume that Cox is a contracted player meaning Freo hold
ALL the cards.

Given where they finished this year (14th) they’d be thinking if they have the same shite year next year and Cox goes to the crows on top dollars we’ll get band 1 compo..

So if they are letting him go a year early they’ll want more than that in return..

You do the sums.

They’d do everything they can to screw the crows out of as much draft capital as possible.. and simply say “nah, no thanks.. see ya next year” if the crows dont pay up..

Happy for the crows to enquire with Cox’s manager but they need to make it clear the most they’d give up is a second rounder at this point.. they can get him for nothing as a free agent next year instead just by offering him a nice salary.

He's contracted, but not playing much AFL footy suggests there's probably not much salary to dump? Maybe more GC searching for draft points?

In all honesty you're better of trying for Hamling from us for a couple years if you need a KPD. Would act as a stop gap while your Keys recover from injury and would cost very little.

Probably cause newchurch was average at best ?

On SM-G996B using BigFooty.com mobile app
So was Rowe..

So is Mchenry..

So is Murphy..

Why is it we give game after game after game to players that are average AND have shite skills and little talent.. and dont even hit the scoreboard as small forwards..

Yet cant give a kid who has blistering speed, kicks goals, has xfactor and tonnes of talent just one single game?..

We will give opportunity after opportunity to shite players that try hard.. and nothing to lads that actually have classy skills..

Its just fxxkn dumb.

And its not just Newchurch that gets this dumbfoundingly stupid treatment.. Nankervis and Worrell wouldnt have gotten an AFL game this year either if it wasnt for injuries to first choice players.

Yep.. all we need is a filler for the spot until Murray is back…

We have Butts and Keane who can do the job.. we need a back up to these two incase one of them go down while Murray is still down..

It won't be as big a salary dump like Bowes but $350-400K will be useful to them if GCS still has salary pressure and the trade won't be just involve a direct swap for pick 4.

You think Himmelberg is going to come good do ya ?
Or Tex play for another 5 years
How many 3rd talls do we have ?

No, but Himmelberg would be a solid third option at a pinch. Anything that keeps Thilthorpe away from rucking when we do give him the keys to this offense works well for me. Mind you, I'd be hunting for a forward/ruck in this draft considering it seems tall heavy + midfield light and I want us to begin to move Thilthorpe into CHF.

Considering we have Welsh as a F/S coming onto our list next year as well which adds further stress, I'd have been getting what I can from a prospect who is stuck in the log-jam.

we cant play both Butts and Keane. both offer nothing offensively.
Not sure what Keane you’ve been watching..

The one I watch takes the game on and has a very penetrating and accurate kick IMO..

So Rooch is saying the issue with Burgess is over the thigh/quad injury he had where had told them there was something wrong with it, he was told to push through it and then revealed he was gonna miss 4-6 after the fact. In the press release announcing the injury Burgo said

“Because it’s right at the top of his hip area he was able to play out the rest of the game in some discomfort and was able to sprint and run, but that kicking mechanism really got to him.
So guessing he wanted to come off, club said no, he's then angry that he had to stay out there and thinks that's why it was so bad. Rucci also mentioned there was some push back from Burgo on "If you had your fitness up to a proper level..." type stuff too.

I was at a game at AO this year and McAdam was sinking a few beers. Struck me as someone not taking rehab seriously.

It's been noted on this board before his tendency to 'overplay' the significance of injuries.

The club would have also been all over that.
