Remember the offer we made for JHF that turned into Dawson, Rachele and Rankine? Would anyone honestly say they wish we got JHF instead?

Yeah we need an elite mid but at what cost?
If that deal for JHF went through…

We’d have missed out on Rachele..

But we’d still have rankine and dawson. They were never going anywhere else other than the crows.

Deals would have been made in the end and the suns and swans wouldve just had to accept the best we could give them.

But thank fxxk that deal didnt go through cause JHF is a lazy flog who, if he doesnt pull his finger out and start putting in, will not be the player he can be. And I reckon in the wash up Rachele will end up being the better player.

Oliver, however, is one of the comps best players that is having a bit of a “stumble” in life at the moment by the sounds of it (like all of us have had at least once or twice in life)..

If Oliver wanted out of the dees and melbourne and looked west to burgess and the crows.. then the crows should move fxxkn mountains.

If the blokes in charge at the club dont.. then its clear they arent the right people for the job.

Indeed... which is why I mentioned it & would hope if there is any chance of him moving we would be using this to our advantage.
Apparently Shane McAdam doesn't share this view.

Reading some of the media the last 24 hours my feel is we aren't getting the full story re Oliver's off field issues so we would want to be right across the depth of these issues. Would be paying a hell of a lot only to see the player crash and burn.

Crash and burn??..

Ease up on the hysteria..

You are making it sound like his entire career is somehow now over..

He’s just a lad in his 20’s going through a bit of a rough patch in his life at the moment by the sounds of it..

He’ll wake up from it pretty soon and learn from it.

Its like some in here have never lived or were never young lads once..

How many players like that crash and burn though when at the peak of their career? He is elite. Ben Cousins won premierships and brownlows as a full blown junkie. I'm sure the Collingwood premiership party wasn't only serving party pies and ribena.

Very interesting that the rumour is he wasnt happy with how the fitness dept treated his hammy injury.. and that he sort advice from outside the club..

Could he be missing the trusted relationship, skills and knowledge of Darren Burgess?.. Dees players gave Darren a hell of a lot of credit for their premiership success..

and interesting that he’s blaming the club for this hammy and the club is apparently blaming him.. sounds like there’s one pretty decent sized rift there..

Anyone know if he attended the Brownlow?… has he broken up with his missus recently or something?.. Because his other actions sound like the sort of mischief and shite some young lads get themself into after a break up.. get a bit loose and off the rails for a bit..

come over to Adelaide young fella!..
The magic hands of a Pat Allen said that Oliver should have returned to playing 6 weeks before he did. Allen said he had Oliver up with him in Donald, NW Vic some 4 hours away from Melbourne, and had worked on his hammy and said it was fine and good to go.

Make of that what you will, but I know Allen certainly fixed mine which considering I'm a slightly overweight battler you'd think a fully fit professional would come out of it alright.

Sources have clarified that this year’s free agency compensation will be based on lining up contracts with salaries based on 2023 wages before the 15 per cent pay rise for players for 2023 and 2024.

If the compensation was based on contracts for 2024, the Dons might have had to pay McKay an extra 15 per cent to hit the first-round trigger.

What a ******* joke. How can they use 2023 salaries when (1) there IS a 15% increase coming next year and (2) surely its the contract offered by the acquiring club NEXT year not what his salary was this year

Perhaps I have got this wrong but without reading all posts this just further cements what a complete joke and farce this competition and head body really is. Even Gary Lyon said this morning that FA compo was a contrived or manipulated outcome

Tom Morris on same show also said Crows would be one of 3 clubs named that would be interested in Oliver along with Saints and Dons as we have more than adequate $ to cover his 1m/year contract (which Lyon said in summary not that likely to happen)

Exactly..

This competition pays some lads in their 20’s a million dollars a year..

Do you know how much that is in thousands of dollars a week.. its nearly 20 grand before tax!!..

As if they arent gonna dabble in a bit of coke!

For what it would take to get him both draft collateral wise and the 7 year salary we would have to take over you would want to be absolutely certain the issues he's dealing with currently are not going to be ongoing. This would set us back similar to the Tippett sanctions and then some if he did crash and burn.
