Ultimately we all remember Thommo for his great contribution to the club, yes we still hark back and he went around one year too long, but his final game in 2017 wasn't what defined his career.

Would love for Sloane to do the same minus the Thommo 2017 season.

I wish players themselves had the self awareness to know that they risk damaging the reputation they've built over many years by going on too long. Sloane could have a long career as a coach, or in the footy media, so it's not like retiring destroys his ability to earn.

In terms of actual list management decisions, the players own opinions about where they're at shouldn't matter in the slightest. I say "shouldn't" because it's possible Adelaide is still a weak, poorly managed club where the tail wags the dog.

I guess ultimately most supporters will forget the shittyness at the end and just remember how they were at their peak. It's probably just a minority of people that stew on it.
