The club seems to believe the draft has hidden nuggets that will be there in the early second round.
And if there isn’t that would be disappointing too

north with 5 1st rnd draft picks, what ****ing blight the AFL gave this shit out, same with GC absolute mockery of shit clubs being utter shit and being rewarded for it

Was Jack Martin a Free Agent?

I mean, if not you, then you understand the going of going to PSD so you do not have to trade.

Band 2 or better and Essendon get Gresham for free anyway.

In the PSD they would need to have high $$$ or other clubs would take him , so they would not be saving money.

Also as Gresham is a FA if a trade fails does he go into the Draft or PSD?

An offer to a Restricted Free Agent may be matched by their Club. Should their original Club match the offer, and the Restricted Free Agent Player does not wish to remain with their original Club, they must enter the National Draft or seek a trade. Compensation in the form of AFL allocated draft picks will apply to clubs with a net loss of Free Agents, based on the formula determined by the AFL.

If anyone who is on top of discussion and rumours surrounding the saints so far in this trade period wants to stick an update in the rumours & confirmed trades no discussion thread for plebs like me I'd be eternally grateful
But... but... you don't like reading pages of Asian restaurant reviews, sarcastic eggcorns and whining about the Donald Trump of football?

Oh.

Lol North just trading their end of first round picks for other end of first round picks that now can't be taken off them is kinda funny.
Yep, astonishing what the AFL has given them. Lucky they picked two duds in Sheezel and Wardlaw last year
Come On Please GIF by NBA

The afl are just a joke at present. You could look the other way when they placed a finger on the scales but this is an act of stupidity that will be felt by teams trying to do the right thing for a decade or more.

Top 40? Don't like the sounds of that.

First 40 😳 boy we showed them.
St Kilda acting General Manager of Football David Misson says the Saints are hoping for an end-of-first-round compensation pick for Gresham.

If Essendon’s contract offer equates to compensation that comes in the second round, Misson says the club is willing to keep hold of the dynamic goalkicker.

“Jade’s a very high-level player,” Misson told SEN Afternoons.

“He kicked 21 goals for us this year, he's been a really established player at St Kilda and we're hoping to get an end-of-first-round pick. That's what we'd be after there.

“If the compensation that we get offered isn't what we'd like, then we'd decide whether we wanted to match it.

I'm pretty concerned by the language today.

We started aiming for Band 1, but knew it probably req'd a deal with Shiel to get it done.

Then it's end of the first round. Considering the other compo picks given, this is probably unders.

Now according to that Channel 7 dufus, it's a top-40 pick?? WTF. We should match the $600k and watch him play at Sandy for the next 5 years.

Starts strong and finished with a whimper, then we’ll decide, hell no. If it’s not end of first we match, even north know how to play this game.
