Hmmm, so the rules were adjusted suggesting we could sign some stronger players, yet we seem to have signed a bunch of players who played some reserves.
Are we again playing nice with the SANFL rather than looking after ourselves first?
Apparently we had a $70K cap on signing guys under those new rules, so sounds like we've spread it evenly on some guys to strengthen the overall make-up of the list rather than splash on 1 or 2 "marquee" type signings. Probably see it better to have these guys playing every week rather than a guy from the Div 3 ammos.

Probably not getting many good SANFL players giving up the local perks they get from their SANFL clubs for $14K.

And leave a traditional club wanting to win a flag for a reserves side

I was told a story back back in 2014 of a SANFL player who specifically told us not to draft him as he didn't believe we would ever play him and if he was gonna play SANFL it would be because of exactly what you said. He also thought he'd get picked up by a Victorian side, which he wasn't, so maybe not the best decision in the end (though he was right that we would have never have played him).

That's not to say every player had that attitude because we drafted Patrick Wilson and Brett Turner after that, but realistically most mature age guys in the SANFL know they're not gonna get drafted, so why move?
