The thing that irks me about the last 8 games last season, is that we didn't play Heath & Keeler for example, who were doing quite well in the vfl. And Garcia deserved to be playing more, on his form too. If that meant losing to develope them quicker, then so be it.
Gifting games is not the way to develop. Pou was being gifted games, went back to VFL and came back looking very much like the player we drafted.
Tanking is just another loser mentality. Keeler and Heath did not deserve games, Garcia did get games and is developing nicely.
If you want to be North and in the bottom 2 for a decade fine, however with our history and previous culture we cannot afford to have that mentality.
Good look at the final siren against Carlton and the reaction of the players to see the club mentality.
I did not care if we won or lost, my initial post was a reaction to a one of whinge post about woe is us we won now we will get shit players. That is typical grievance victim mentality. So
1) it is good to win football matches
2) we don't 'always' select bad choice as the OP suggested, our drafting, pick trading since probably 2018 has be extremely good.

Not the point im making.

He might be the pick. No issues. I’m saying if he is the choice.

We need to complete a Leake/wilson scenario.
Other than two top mids getting through to 7 and 8, that’s probably the best scenario for mine rather than a “true” pick 8 split. Potentially drop to 10 or 11-ish for a club to rise up to a tall and we drop back to take a preferred at that pick and nab a good return.

If Bo Allen is being talked about as a potential at 7 or 8, if we want two mids we will have two mids as their will be a slider.

Would love Jonty Faull to slide to our third pick. Reckon he’ll have the best career out of the key forwards in this draft and compliments King better than most with a huge work rate

No.

Some clubs have a desire to shift some of their picks into next years first round.

Richmond is one. (18 onwards apparently)

Giants and Swans both open.

Freo would consider the offer.

As it stands North can trade 2 down but no one is paying 2 top 10 picks for it because of the quality of this draft.

Only 3 clubs can facilitate a deal and only 2 of those clubs have an F1.

I think Richmond is in the box seat for it. But if they are genuine about keeping p6. We can get a deal done and our future first would make better sense and value for north to use to trade back into this draft targeting the above clubs.

If I was in charge and I could get what I wanted…

P8 + F1 for P2 + F2 and we draft FOS at #2.

Hold pick 7 until we are on the clock. If we can take Smillie or Jagga we draft them.

If they aren’t on the board and it’s only Murphy Reid. Trade down.

Would Richmond do 10 + 18 for 7 + our F2?

If so, draft Bo Allan/Trainor and the opposite type of player - which is likely a mid at 18. Might even get lucky and Trainor slides here.
Love love

If Harry O’Farrell is available at our second rounder and we don’t get Tauru or Trainor, I’d take him in a heartbeat alongside Cole

Mobile intercept key defender compared to Harry Himmelberg. Can also play forward. 197cm

Well after a quick read of that I hope we are working on splitting Pick 8 rather than trading up to Pick 2.

8 and future 1st for whatever combination of picks in the 11 to 20 range picks we can get our hands on.
We haven’t watched or spoken much of his footage because we have never been in a position high enough to think he was a realistic option. Even when we potentially had 4&5 in our grasp.

But if the rumours and speculation is true and we do end up with pick 2. This is who I want and I have always felt like he is the best talent in this draft.

He is a match winning mid

And this was the day my pants magically came off mid game. For context he had barely played all year due to unfortunate injuries.

He had 12 disposals. Look what he did.

Been crying out for a high-damage scoreboard-hitting midfielder for years. FOS is ready-made and is the type to improve us immediately as a half forward alongside Henry. We have the chance to get him for a fair price, we have to take it

Then we get an accumulator work-rate guy at 7. Along with Windy, Pou, Garcia, Wilson…midfield is sorted for the next decade

There are a number of scenarios I like. But in a hypothetical were we land FOS.

If Smillie Langford or Jagga aren’t at 7.

I’m splitting it with the Giants.

15+16+21 for 7+32 + Potentially a F2.

I’m rolling the dice hoping Trainor makes it but knowing we will also land one of: Allan Lindsay Hotton at those 15+16 picks.

21 - Whitlock Faull Dodson.

It's going to be the biggest let down of all time if we take 7 and 8 to the draft lol. After all of the hypotheticals that have been floating around.
I'm still comfortable regardless. Can see us with two or three very good kids in the first round plus some bonuses later.

Something has to happen on draft night. Either of those picks or our future first.

We have 7 senior list spots available

Even if we take Cole/Hofmann/Peckett.

We only have 3 picks for 4 vacancies.

Crouch still up in the air and should be use as the spot for a train on. Not the current vacancies.

You think 47 will be used on Cole?

Well we would need another pick after that wouldn’t we?
Considering it comes into 41ish after bids, it’d feel like a bit of a waste if we voluntarily gave it up for Cole when we could’ve done it for a couple of 4th rounders. I think we’d be able to find a way to keep 47 and get Cole too

More of a let down if we do some stupid trade that disadvantages us and goes against the stated strategy of the past 4 years.
