That's always been the problem with him but people get sucked in by the big numbers (including me more recently with an element of copium with our fall down the draft order)

I feel like a likely scenario is that he ends up a Mason Wood-type winger with the potential to be a lesser Bont if he can get stronger through the hips. Doesn't have speed, and doesn't have elite kicking so he'll have to become a contest machine to play inside. Elite running to become a winger

Wood is a good player, but I wouldn't take a winger in the top 10
I left with more questions than answers, he looked tired I’m not sure if it was just the step up in quality he was against? Has stuffed the stat sheet all year but against lesser opposition, hard to rate. I know Reid is not your favourite but I grew on him a bit more over the weekend. Is seriously sharp in the clinches and when he went forward one of the dandy boys was getting stuck into him throwing a few jabs and bumping him around and his response back with a few bumps and a few verbals along the line of ‘keep going I f’en love this 💩’ reeks of competitiveness and I personally loved seeing it. Very flashy but also does the dirty contested side of the game well and isn’t afraid of getting stuck in.

I don't see a winger there, an inside mid or forward imo. He will come good, listening to interview sounds like a humble hard working competitve kid. Would not be upset at all if we selected him.

We judge these kids harshly, how far did Smillie drop in peoples eyes after a couple below expectation games.

One to watch for the 2026 draft.

Arki Butler (Sandringham Dragons/Vic Metro)
Forward/Midfielder | 180cm | 23/04/2008

Arguably Vic Metro’s standout player and prospect from the National Championships, Butler is a mercurial type with great evasiveness and goal sense. He looks dangerous wherever he goes; whether playing deep inside 50, as a high forward or through midfield. He often makes the opposition look silly and is both skilful and athletic enough to back up his excellent decision making. Butler also has ties to the top level, as the grandson of 250-game St Kilda premiership player, Allan Davis.
Can confirm ,can seriously play, brother played last year.
Both great footy iq, see ball get ball attitude, like the contested stuff but athletically not in the top range.

The entire Dandenong team were off their game yesterday, they looked like they had hit the wall energy wise. They really only fell in against Gippsland the week before. I think to judge individuals from Dandenong on that performance is ill informed.

Langford battled manfully against a red hot talented Sandringham mostly as a lone hand. The only reason he got run down was he was looking for a free player ahead of him, that happens. Im confident he will become an elite midfielder at the next level and those doubters will be shown to be a questionable judge of talent when it happens.

I’ve watched him live multiple times this year it’s not a one off judgement. But these are games that teams are at full strength and the top prospects are going head to head. He’s still a clear tier 1 talent but theres definitely questions on him as there is in pretty much all prospects. I view him as a competitive inside midfielder who’s strong overhead, would have no issues selecting him. Twomey has also said some recruiters love him and some view him as a dime a dozen midfielder.

He will definitely be a capable inside mid or forward, but will he be a top 10 worthy player in either of those positions? Is that where he will reach his full potential or will he end up like another Matthew Kennedy, Will Setterfield, Will Brodie etc. where you can have a range of good attributes but be missing one decisive trait that restricts your potential in the midfield?

Allan Davis could play. Wonderful skills. Played way taller than his actual height.

Depending on what we and NM suspect Gold Coast and Melbourne are going to do with their picks Don't be surprised if Saints get offered 2 + F1st from North Melbourne for 7 + 8. Then NM draft Armstrong and Trainor with 7 and 8.
That would be great - then trade the future 1st and our 2nd to Richmond for a couple of mid to later 1st round picks......Richmond are going to end up with a bunch of 1st rounders this year and supposedly want to push a couple into next year.....

Pity he hasn’t had anywhere near a consistent run.

But FOS is highly damaging when he gets the ball. Showed the same v the Zebras

He looks a class above everyone else.

I know it was an absolute shank. But that was some serious ability in show to clunk that last mark.

If we had p1. I’d probably take FOS.

I'd be very surprised because that's an awful deal for NM- surely 2 alone for 7&8 is closer to the mark?

The slated deal would end up being 2&4ish for 7&8.

I'd be happily wrong here.

Damien Barrett just said “It can’t be a top 10 pick for Josh Battle, I’m sorry”

These guys speak to player managers and have a good idea of what sort money was offered etc.

Prepare yourselves for the lube.
Saints are about to get f***ed

Damo goes more on vibe though. He doesn't think the player is worth top ten. He will have a huge sook when it is.

He sounded like he was giving an opinion moreso that fact.

It is more than what we'd get on an open market, so perhaps that was where his opinion was coming from. He does enjoy sticking the boots into our club from time to time, so it doesn't shock me he doesn't think we'd 'deserve' a top 10 pick like what McKay got.

He literally said "this is just my opinion"

I hope you’re right, but he sounded pretty adamant.

Like I mentioned.. they speak to managers fairly regularly. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Love that he's not good enough to trigger band 1 compo but once he arrives at Hawthorn, he will be considered an A grader who will put them into premiership contention.

Was listening as well. Think he was hoping more than knowing. Said we have no access to know what Hawthorn's contract price is.

In saying that we've been brainwashed into believing it's a given by a few in here. There's commentary all over this board around what we will be doing with pick 8.

Will get ugly around here if it doesn't eventuate. I've got no idea where it lands.
