I feel like dealing with Richmond and getting pick 10 or 11 for next years first is a better trade for us.
Richmond reportedly want to even out their selections between this year and next and everyone thinks we’re shit so our future 1st must hold value. Getting 7,8 and 10 would really fast track a flag tilt.
I guess they might want next years 1st for a trade though. Who knows maybe we could do both and get 7, 10, 15 and 16.We will see.
If that happens my ideal scenario:

Pick 7 - Smillie/Langford
Pick 10 - Reid
Pick 15 - Hynes
Pick 16 - Shanahan

There is such an even spread of talent this draft that preference will be a lot more relevant. SOS is also a Lyon coconspirator. He's there to push Lyon's barrow. Not sure what the power balance is with Dalrymple but you imagine he takes orders from LM.
I saw SOS buy Dalrymple a coffee once...take from that what you wish.🤣

So it seems we are a 85% chance to trade pick #8, so perhaps Richmond are a good chance to be our trading partner? It is also evident we are showing interest in mid 1st round players like Trainor & Lindsay and no doubt others. For that to occur Richmond must be keen to get ahead of Melbourne to grab a key tall. That might make Melbourne jumpy about who they take at pick #5 or Richmond at #6. It might also make GWS extra keen to trade up to access a target player - either way it works for us.

I doubt Richmond will be interested in our pick #32, so will need to sweeten any deal with futures.

Possible trade scenaros (listed most likely to least) -

Richmond trades:
Picks #10 & #18 for #8 & F2.
Picks #11 & #18 for #8 & F2.
Picks #10 & #20 for #8 & F2.
Picks #11 & #20 for #8 & F2.
Picks #10 & #23 for #8 & F3.
Picks #11 & #23 for #8 & F3.
Picks #10 & #11 for #8 & F1.

GWS trades:
Picks #15 & #21 for #8
Picks #16 & #21 for #8
Picks #15 & #16 for #8 & F3
Picks #15, #16, #21 for #8 & F1.

My preference would be the last GWS trade where we get 3 x 1st round picks, but the likelihood of them trading out all 3 x picks is unlikely. You might question WHY we should be including F2 in trading with Richmond, thats to balance the disparity in this years draft to next. If we can work something out without giving away a future pick then all the better.

mate this draft is that even that id really consider to give Richmond 7+8 for 10+11+18+20

Kevin Sheen said Murphy Reid is speedy :)

I saw him run down and tackle a player in one of his highlight reels and his speed was express, he just doesnt move that quickly when he has the ball. He is quite freakish in close he finds space and time where others wouldnt.

Obviously we'd have to wait to see who is available at 7 first...

My sauces say it's actually 72.7%.

Sorry, mate.

North have been trying to trade their F1 and could not get 13 for it. There is no way Richmond will hand over 10 for your future pick. We’d deal on the North pick first or Essendon F1 as they’ll be crap in 2025.

11 could be part of a trade for your 7 or 8 with us supplying a sweetener.

There is only going to be one of those available at our selections in the Top 10. And there is a world that none are there but that’s unlikely. To get a midfielder with a second pick we are talking Gross who is rated in the 20’s. Every other prospect from 8 to the mid 20’s aren’t proven mids.

All this type of talk is mute frankly.

Interesting post. Food for thought.

I think pick 32 might be part of any GWS pick swap.

Doubt Tigers would swap two picks under pick 20. But you never know.

Ok, so the point I was making with that bit (And I didn't make it clearly I admit) is that I don't want a guy that COULD be a mid (like Coffield) I would like us to take someone that IS a mid. Yes, that person may start forward or back, but must be a full time mid in two seasons.

Oh and if all we get from this draft is a "best 22" player, I will be disappointed... We need at least one game changer from these two picks, and a top line ball magnet with the other one.
I think Bo has spent time, full time as a mid for both WA u18 and Peel.
He was a back who made the move to mid for most of this year.

Where as Coffield was a backman and he just played minimum mid time u18 but it was believed he “could” transition.

Also Allan is a far more contested, tackling inside player than Coffield was/is.

As for game changer, Allan looks to have strengths that would add a dynamic to our midfield that we don’t have. Is maybe our best bet for a game changer at pick 8.

If they have done their nut over Reid say and also wanted to jump melb to get Armstrong…
We could get like Allan, Lindsay and Trainor plus I dunno pick 20
