Fair enough choice by him, not too many players/people are exactly knocking back being on decent coin & having lesser responsibility by mostly playing in the reserves for the next couple of years all while living comfortably on the Gold Coast… does show how hard it’s really become to attract any non-SA growing up Crows fan people to this football club though. Now at the point where regular reserve league playing players are now preferring outside lifestyle benefits & tutelage under coaches like Damien Hardwick rather than to be payed more and a have a regular AFL spot with the Crows.

He got paid.

Would there be any club interested in ROB as their No 1 ruckman and willing to take on his contract?

His contract aint that bad considering it only has one year left.

I wouldn't be surprised if Collingwood came knocking. Eagles might look to grab him.

I would also be happy to ride out his contract - provided we bring in a couple of ruck options in 2025.

Yeah Goad or Wilson whos looking pretty great so far.
If we didn't trade up for Curtin, we likely would've ended up with Wilson and Goad, rather than Curtin and Edwards. Norf traded up 2 spots on the night to get ahead of us for Goad.

A defender and reaching on a mid who didn't make his state side doesn't look great now, especially considering Wilson's year (and his speed and disposal skills being exactly what we're missing in our midfield) plus our lack of any feasible ruckman now or in the future but willing to hold fire to see how all those lads end up.

I'm sure I've seen his name mentioned given all the ruck talk, but Alex Dodson from Sturt is also training with the 36ers ATM to make their development squad. Guessing he's still undecided on what path to take.
Unless he's ultimately good enough for the NBA or some of the top grade European comps wouldnt he eventually be on better money if he becomes an A grade AFL player? He'll have to make that decision pretty soon though.

Probably but interestingly he'd probably be a first choice NBL player sooner than he would in the AFL and therefore make more money whilst his body matures.

Even as a decent AFL player he'd be making more. That's why Greenwood swapped over, was on like $90K at the Wildcats and that was coming off college ball and we could offer $150-$200K off the bat. NBL money is a lot better nowadays, but off the bat he's still looking at a $75K salary his first couple of years.

I have no idea what his level is as a basketballer though and what his potential is if he went full-time. If he's good enough to make it to China, Japan or Europe he can make some good money, but immediate $ would be in football.

Clubs are so desperate for talls he'll get a 2nd go at AFL down the track if he wants to give basketball a run early

He is a 6'5 white guy who is the best Bball Talent in Adelaide.

He ain't sniffing Europe let alone the NBA. Better off milking the extra years of grace as a "developing" ruck man.

Providing we don't win too many in the run home, we'll draft a potential top line mid like Draper with pick 6/7, likely we'll then have to use our second (tied to Melbourne?) to match Welsh, then have a pick or two out in Hail Mary 40 plus territory. That should be a solid draft, albeit light on in numbers.

We're not getting anything worthwhile pick wise for those leaving
Unless Keane goes. He’s contracted
