IMO you need experienced players to keep competitiveness within the group and protect the high end youth from years of floggings, and the damage that causes to their psyche. Otherwise you get a GC Suns situation, where the club has no idea how to win.

Also, the good coaching/development is an assumption based on their earned goodwill from the Hardwick/Gale era. However neither has been proven yet for the Yze/Richardson era. They would want to hope they nail this draft, as the crop below the experienced players hasn't showed all that much thus far.
You also need it for wear and tear on bodies

Eg Soligo 2 years ago playing centre square full time would likely bang up his body for good

Just on Reid. Could this collingwood story be a rouse because we are going to appoint reid in that role, sack kelly, and get a godfather part time to mentor reid?
No

My biggest problem with losing Reid is that we've probably been caught on the back foot, there will be limited options, and we'll settle for the best of what we can find, maybe from the SANFL or an internal hire.

Then, instead of spending the next 12-24 months scouring the country for the best list manager we can find we just settle for what we've got and that's it for a decade.

The immediate problem is it would probably mean Kelly doing list management

Any linkage to Rendells infamous comments? ie did this meeting impact his thinking
I had it on podcast (or similar) going back a long time ago - 15 years go - and am 100% sure he said at least the 'tanking' part of things but no records now unfortunately...except my memory which is pretty solid for this sort of thing. Re Horks putting him up to it thats a bit more blurry but did hear that somehere

I think we were always taking Danger if available anyway. More than Rioli would have been our next choice if Danger gone

Random comment: in the Virgin lounge with the Melbourne AFLW team. Let me know if there’s someone I should talk to about making a move

They were talking about players not upgrading their contracts when changing clubs and taking their current contracts with them. Of course straight to ANB only having 2 years and now he gets 4 at Adelaide. The crows live rent free in that head of his. He knows we got a steal with ANB
And he said as much yesterday.
He lives in most people’s heres head including yours by the looks.
