Why? Apart from the fact he is recovering from an ACL in his under 18 year, he is believed to be the better player of the two.
The Hottons are not a fan of Ross or the club. They certainly wouldnt want the next kid at the Saints.

He was told 3 months ago he was going to get delisted unless they saw a dramatic turnaround in the final 6 weeks of the season.

Family was pretty shocked I was told, and unsurprisingly disagreed wholeheartedly.

Love it that the club is being ruthless on list management. Long may it continue!

I understand your view, but it would be a risk to potentially spend a top 15 pick in this draft on a kid who will immediately request a trade. This assumes we trade in to get another top 15 pick.
If there was only one spot on a list & it came down to either me & my brother...

I wouldn't blink.

Bad luck champo.

Brutal but I love it. RTB not mucking around.

Remember when he delisted Schwarze after returning in not the best shape. He probably had his best year in 06 too

Hotton snr was a GOP, son Ollie was not good enough for the AFL.
Sad but true. If the Hotton's think the club is a benevolent society and they are something special, well do we want another with that attitude?

He is not a chance at 7 or 8 if we hold so I wouldn't bother expending energy on even thinking about drafting him.

Good luck to the delisted guys, but if we want a successful season, then our best 22 needs to be out there for the bulk of a season. We can’t step up if we have injury-prone players in and out of the team during the season, and causing inconsistency, which kills any team. Lyon is not a development coach, he wants guys up and ready to go now

Do we want someone that petty.
We don't know the full story. They might be unhappy with our medical team and if that's the case you probably wouldn't want your next kid coming off a reco landing there.

No workplace is perfect for everyone and even great employers can still produce former employees with genuine grievances.

One things for sure though, if the family do hold a grudge against the club, he shouldn't be in the mix for us.

parents take the kid's side, kid is too young to self reflect and accept the facts of the matter (ross is our true hero and savior)

If t hotton is best available at our pick I hope we take him rather than give a f about what his folks think. Probs hates his parents anyway like any smart child would

Personally I hate his parents already and I’ve never even met them

Yeah but obviously doesn't like hard work. Hasn't gained a kilo since drafted.

I think that's his build. He has more natural talent than 90% of players there but went to the worst possible club for a player like him. Like sending Ginnivan to the worst club in the land. He would have withered on the vine too.

He's a dickhead, he's probably lazy but he could have been managed to be a star still.

Club seems to be taking a proactive aproach to removing injury riddled players. I don't mind it. In Patons case, he wasn't the same post broken leg.

Lyon made those brutal calls last time he was at the Saints. If your body wasn't up to it you got cut.

It would be frustrating being on the periphery and seeing your kid not getting opportunities. My son didn't make the cut for soccer and it's pretty hard seeing a kid right on the cusp of playing pro sport where coaches and club staff have total control over everything. You see others who you think aren't as good getting minutes over your kid for political or coaches favourite reasons and you can get pretty angry.

I don't miss that shit. He's got mates still in the system and it's even more brutal at the next level.

What us the issue?

He didn't prove himself to be worthy of a list spot so didn't get one.

I was a big fan of him in his draft year but he was very disappointing. That's footy. If he's as good as his family think then another club will take him tomorrow.

I wonder if seb Ross mummy and daddy are upset with Ross Lyon too?
Or skunk Membreys folks?

Probably like all coaches, there will always be guys that do get left on the outer through a year or their career. I know in RTB stint 1 there were players that he didn’t communicate very well with (quite poorly). And not 41st list cloggers. But that’s life and it’s cut throat. And I imagine there would have been plenty of coaches the same. I also imagine that nowadays all coaches have a degree of additional capacity to act as a manager since his first stint.

I remember the father and I’ve watched Ollie enough to say yes he’s had injury’s but he hasn’t shown much. I’m not keen on the younger brother for several reasons and doubt the club is so we just move on.
