I’m not declaring him a world beater or a star etc.

He is okay. But I also think he is heavily maligned for doing a job that isn’t what he should be asked to do. Often playing above his height and weight class.

2 years ago, Battle couldn’t get more than a 2 year deal.

I’m happy to leave it at him being a poor man’s Josh Battle. But he is also 23 and I’d be very keen to see what Ross can do with him across half back.

Who is better though? Ethan Phillips was the other option but Kemp is a lot better than him and a lot more similar to Battle

I think Kemp, as others have mentioned, has upside in that we can play him in his natural position as a 3rd tall to free him up to intercept more, and the fact that he’s 23. Where was Battle when he was 23?

Our backline has two really solid pillars in Doogs and Wilkie. We dont need a superstar that costs a shitload at this point.

Trying to replace Battle to save 100k and burn a first round pick would be idiotic.

Kemp makes a lot of sense to me provided he comes cheap both trade and salary value and if it doesnt happen thats fine.
