Happy to say I was there today. Still working my way through the thread, but wonder if our catching had been mentioned. Was really good, took a few tough ones.
They did that on the last tour there for the final test in Ahmedabad...Prepared an absolute road so we had no chance to draw the series
Howstat. Now there’s a blast from the pastIf he plays for 4-5 years he wont even average 40 at this rate. Post covid he's averaged 31.7

Sometimes there is a case of using cricket logic in decisions , this was a case in that .Just on the Jaiswal deflection for the umpteenth time, all of the replays show the right-to-left deviation on the screen.
Lets remember how steeply the ball dipped as well with Carey hitting the deck as he took it.
I'm assuming they will have a back up TV umpire to review Joel's TV decisions also ?Gough and Saikat are the on field umpires for the SCG test.
Unfortunately Joel Wilson will still be making decisions in this match though, this time as tv umpire.
Thick edge, clear deviation, close up shows contact.
No one worth listening to could think that is anything but clearly out. Even most Indian fans are saying it’s out. It’s not even worthy of a discussion.
Joe "never scored an Ashes hundred in Australia" Root has to turf most things that come his way if that's to happen. The Smith catch to dismiss Reddy in particular. Which got me thinking...
I might be getting ahead of myself a bit here (I am) but hear me out:
Steve Smith currently sits at 192 catches in his Test career, putting him at 6th all time (list: https://www.espncricinfo.com/records/most-catches-in-career-283548)
We've got one more Test left in this series, 2 to come vs Sri Lanka in Feb, WTC in June, 3 Tests against WI shortly after (Jun-Jul) and then the Ashes next summer.
Now if he was to play every one of these Tests and maintain his current catches/matches rate, I've got him retiring at the Sydney Cricket Ground in Jan 2026 at #1 with 212 catches.
Can very easily see him become another Clint McKay. Probably not quick enough at international level.
That said, Starc seemed like he was on his last legs and IMO shouldn't play the fifth. But I'd gamble on Richardson (Neser's apparently not available, which is a shame).
Both teams get 3 reviews and 3 review reviewsI'm assuming they will have a back up TV umpire to review Joel's TV decisions also ?

Clearly his family said "Nah dont worry about coming home for Xmas Joel. We'll post your Lynx Africa Gift set out to you. You stay in Australia and make a campaigner of yourself there like usual"We seem to always get Wilson ...lucky us
I do that too mate sometimes with the footy. Keep myself busy and check scores regularly if i feel like its a game i could go full Steven May at my TV. Ironically i find watching the bloody games anyway is more therapeutic and we win more often than not when i do somehow so my theory is stupid.Just before any wickets fell this morning, I decided I couldn't cope watching anymore.
I don't know why I care so much, why it's become like this for me, but it happens with the footy too. I just find it way too stressful.
Instead, I spent the last session mashing the refresh button on this thread to follow the game.
I want to thank you all for providing me with an incredible commentary of the game, far better than anything on radio or TV.
He can be the team man as ****ing 12th man… the series is still alive… picking him again might cost us this ****ing series yet.
"However, despite Marsh’s poor form, any decision to leave him out would not be taken likely given he is the nucleus of the dressing room as the ultimate team man."
Oh FFS!
Basically hes no longer an all-rounder. Hes an emotional support Bison

He certainly showed me up with his late match heroics.Boland wicketless when we need him most. It is the G Barrell.
I don't feel that edge with cricket like football which means you can more genuinely appreciate the opposition's quality.I do that too mate sometimes with the footy. Wasn't easy eitherMarsh should obviously be dropped, but jeez that catch off Head was pivotal.
