Dead set, it's Geelong vs the world.

The Cats supporters come across to me as having the biggest chips on their shoulders I've seen.

The preview thread on the Cats board....fml...Richmond may as well not turn up, the game has already been run and won. We the Tiges are going out in straight sets blah blah blah. The lack of respect for fellow top 4 aspirants is stupefying.

Now, this may be a stretch for some, but not everyone hates Geelong. Most admire them. (leaving the Cats v Hawks rivalry out of this). Bartel & Enright woud have to be two of my favourite players the last 20yrs.

Remember last year? The Dogs dream run? So many people backed the Dogs on the way through, especially v Swans in Granny.
Cats fans, was this because everyone hated the Swans? No. They recognised the Swans had some recent success, and supported the underdog.

People not wishing the Cats to win isn't a hate thing. It's a recognition of success you have achieved, and to some extent realising that if Tiges get through, they are this years underdog, due to our shitness over a sustained period.

You feels hard done by because people want the Tiges to win? Get over yourselves. All I read is we are shit in finals, straight sets, our record v Cats is shit yada yada yada. You are not the only side copping spit.

**** me......I just want a great game of footy, and both sides to play really well. A well umpired game with no controversy so we can just say the best team won.

Seriously, good luck for the finals, play well.
Talk to a Cats fan over 40, they see Geelong getting belted by ten goals each week regardless of opponent, venue, or form...such is the stinging pain of the 90's.

The last time we played a full season at KP was 1969, before Waverly opened and the VFL moved home games to make money on us. Been that way ever since. We detest Melbourne games more than you detest Etihad games. It's no fun for anyone...

Except of course for all the Geelong fans who live in Melbourne...

and all the Geelong fans who would never get to see their team live if they were all played at such a small venue.

Let's face it, more than twice as many Geelong fans will see Friday night's game live because it's at the G than would get in at KP.

Ironic considering your board thinks you'll smash a team you haven't beaten in 11yrs and that finished above you
"That Menegola for Geelong is very underrated. He destroyed us last time and is in good form. If you take out Selwood and Dangerfield they still have Duncan, Guthrie, Menegola and S Selwood. Their midfield is very good. I'm not confident at all."

"To be fair, its their board and having won 12 on the trot against us they have every reason to be smug. Good on 'em."

"Like many I'm quietly confident, even with the inclusion of Selwood"

"Man, I want Richmond to beat Geelong. This has gone on for so long now. I was in my early years of high school the last time we beat Geelong!"

This just in a couple of pages. Not many people think we will "smash"you. There are, of course, posts that are ridiculous. General view is tight match and some optimism.

If it rains, its a simple equation.
The talent and skill of the sides is taken out of it, whoever plays wet weather football wins.
Its the same since under 10s, dont overposses, win the territory battle, gain metres whereever possible and set a premium on winning the hardball. The rest is luck on a wet day.

I'm 46, can't remember 1980 that well. All I have tasted is shit, and it doesn't taste that nice.....

So much salt in the air already.

I hear the EPA has announced there has been a mass die off of fish in Corio bay due to the salinity. The only survivors are the ones that have evolved to handle the saltiness over the past few decades.

I see Richmond fans generally being comfortably numb due to the consistent under-performing, upsetting but becoming expected. Older Cats fans through the 90's had their expectations raised to incredible heights only to be dashed at the final dance, making them bitter and twisted and reluctant to accept any future success that may come.

I could quote posts of Richmond fans saying we'll get smashed too

No we don't.
Get the tears out of your eyes and you might be able to read that what you're saying is a complete lie.

It's finals time. Tensions are high. I wouldn't let it get to you mate.

so there is going to be 60,000 cats supporters on friday? you are kidding. there will be lucky to be 30,000. most likely about 25,000 which is less then what would be at geelong,

You wouldn't have bad 30k of the crowd if it was at you're little boutique stadium.
We would have outnumbered you if played there.

and how many cats fans would have been in attendance if the final was at KP?

I would say, if you were to ask neutrals, that the difference in general attitude between the two supporter bases is stark.

As I said, of course our board has ridiculous posts.

That first paragraph is garbage

Surely only because you don't get that massive home ground advantage.
