Be interesting to see how the Dogs develop Tim English. He's a below average ruck and generally tends to struggle in there, but he's really coming along forward wise. Wonder where he ends up.

English had a huge growth spurt late in his football development, playing his younger years as a midfielder (pretty sure). He's a smart guy and has shown enough since debuting that he'll be more than handy as a ruckman when he matures... But yep, he's coming from a long way back. Big help having Martin guide him.

How do you figure that?
It's pretty evident that sleeping in ones own bed for consecutive weeks provides many benefits, so much so that away teams have no chance.

Even at full flight, Martin was an average tap ruckman at best. He got his hands to the ball heaps, but didn't really have the technique to direct in the right direction. He had his influence on games because he was basically an extra midfielder picking up ~20 disposals per game utilising his tank.

Seems like English's ceiling in the ruck might end up similar to where Martin's was (and probably less so given Martin was able to be competitive because of his strength), and he'll have to influence the game in other ways. It'll be interesting to see if he can end up competitive enough in the ruck that you can go in with him as your first ruckman, or whether he ends up as a third tall/backup ruckman type.

Oh those umpires, bulldogs controlled the game all day but those umpires , 17 more inside 50s plus 30 tackles , but those umpires, the same people are crying in these threads every week , I can imagine your life oh it wasn't my fault poor me oh how can it be so
