I like how people are quick to write Cowan off because the last time he played test cricket he didn't set the world on fire and averaged in the low 30's yet the same people are happy to pick Shaun Marsh.... Selective memory?

Actually I'm pretty underwhelmed by both of them for the same reason; neither is a test class player with the techinque to prosper against quality bowling. But needs must I'm afraid, our batting stockes really are that thin unless we basically pick someone on spec who hasnt dont much yet but we think has class and time on their side. And having lost Clarke, I doubt we will do that.

None of the prospects are ready yet.

Sucks living overseas, a pub nearby was showing the game on AstroSports but I would have loved to have seen all 30+ hours of this classic on the couch at home. Given the emotion and the way the game panned out, it will be one to remember for ever.

Nathan Lyon, kudos to you. I was one that thought he was fairly useless, but he looked unplayable at times today.

India deserve some serious credit for getting as close as they did, just as they deserve scrutiny for collapsing the way they did. Going from 2-242 to all out 315 was very reminiscent of us under Micky Arthur and Ashes 2013. I'm glad we're not the only team to collapse so epically.

Last session result, game up for grabs with 30 overs to go, Test cricket at its best!

Second year drop in pitch....they've nailed the science.

India did very well. Kohli is a phenomenon. Setting a new standard in leadership in Indian cricket (talent has never been an issue).

Well that's the series. As far as Indian favorable pitches goes the road at Adelaide, with its spin friendly finish, was as close as there will be.

From here on its Aus suited grounds.

Sydney probably suits them more than Adelaide IF they bat well, and that is the million dollar question. Apart from Kholi, Vijay and Rahane I don't trust any of the rest in Australian conditions. Sydney will turn but offer enough for Ishant, Aaron, Yadav, Kumar, etc.

Interested to see how India line up for the next test, few of their players would be feeling the heat but I wouldn't be surprised to see them go in unchanged (maybe a bit surprised re: K.Sharma).

Lyon was incredible. Already itching for the next test to get going.

It wouldn't be a test summer without Mexicans talking up Cameron White
To be fair he has actually had Shield form in the last two years. Unlike the other ten years of being talked up, its not a completely ludicrous proposition right now.
The years of the Herald-Sun talking him up as the next Shane Warne (on the basis of an under-19 world cup where he was outbowled by Doherty), and then as then next Ponting, all the while being a super-spud with bat and ball certainly make him seem like a joke. But his batting has got to the point where, unlike when he was selected, his selection would be almost warranted.

I'd be more than happy to see a Burns or Handscomb given a go because I think both will be much better option than Cowan and Marsh in the long run IMO. That's not going to happen though.

I wouldn't put Handscomb in even if he didn't have a broken finger :(.

Rogers must be glad to be finally getting some luck. Playing pretty ordinary, but you'd have to think he's no chance of losing his spot now with Clarke out, and Watson batting so poorly.
