If you think that formline will hold up against the best then you will be in for a rude shock.
Clark only got one possession from almost a full quarter on the ground. This was a meh game i thought we were ok and did what we had to do without impressing a lot.
Neale was a real positive but the rest we cant judge much as the opposition was poor.
Next week i suspect the changes will be
In Danger hawkins kolo
Out: Neale osullivan tuohy
Id go clark again but mannagh as an impact sub is also possible.
Touhy is the only true concern in our side atm.Guthries been out a while he will need to come through the vfl.
Atkins is zero chance to be dropped. IF parfitt keeps this form up atkins will go back to hbf and tuohy or oconnor (probably the former) will be dropped.
Parfitt and bowes will have to keep this form up or they wont be in anyway.
Didnt Atkins come runnerup in the best and fairest last year as well? So two excellent seasons and you want to push him out after five rounds this year , Parfitt has been dropped five times in those two years. Bowes and Bruhn have added to the midfield depth , but Atkins has been a very solid contributor for three years now. Can’t see Guthrie having to play more than one VFL match assuming he looks a class above, which he should.
I’d prefer Atkins to Tuohy who is battling. He did a few nice things today but under heat is now often fumbly. O’Connor is in good form and provides positional versatility. Can’t see him being dropped.
Atkins should be on the periphery. He was great in 22 but on current form Parfitt is ahead.

Sure, we'll just flog the midfield into the ground every week and have them cooked by finals. To quote James May - "Irrelevant Twaddle".
North don't get 20 points added to their score because they had 16 less inside 50s and we don't excuse our mids struggling over the low bar set by elite midfielders at every other club.
We are 17th for clearances and 17th for contested possessions.
Guys hitting 18-23 touches shouldn't be celebrated, or excused because of low ToG. We should improve their endurance so their ToG and by extension, output, can increase accordingly.
Standards are being set very low on here.
2E or Rohan for super sub then? Can’t see Guthrie having to play more than one VFL match assuming he looks a class above, which he should.

What is it with people and irrelevant stuff tonight.Sure, we'll just flog the midfield into the ground every week and have them cooked by finals.
Seemed to work from 2012-2021, why not try it again?
Considering Guthrie hasn't played, Danger has missed 3 games, and all of Bruhn, Bowes, Duncan, & Atkins have missed at least 1, we've done a mighty job so far.
We're clearly playing the long game here, and looking to peak when it matters with our two best mids back in the side.
All that's important between now and then is banking the wins. Premierships aren't won in April.
That North player has the classic "Who farted?" look on his face!Another addition to the pool room

I keep seeing this everywhere... Geelong has the easiest draw Geelong hasn't beat anyone etc etcWe've beaten no one of note.

I'm honestly confused that you can't see the link here. It's completely relevant, it's cause and effect. What is it with people and irrelevant stuff tonight.
18-23 touches a game from our midfielders is decent output, but not great, nor is our lowly standings in key midfield metrics.
The next month will be telling in that regard, playing 4 clubs with far better midfield groups.
ToG, long game, running guys into the ground. All irrelevant here and topics for separate discussion points.
How much we play guys, whether we give them weeks off to manage them is not the issue.
Can only beat what's in front of youWe've beaten no one of note.

Don't patronise me.I'm honestly confused that you can't see the link here. It's completely relevant, it's cause and effect.
The midfielders are playing low TOG, hence their lower numbers. If they where playing the same TOG as their opponents, their numbers would be similar.
We did it all through the winning streak in 2022, and have ever since.
Go back and check, and you'll be hard pressed to find a single eye catching performance from a midfielder on the stat sheet.
We've done this for a while now. 15 or so players around the 15-25 disposal mark, rather than 3 who get 35-40.
It's about sharing the load, conserving energy, and waring down the opposition through weight of numbers.
You seem like a pretty bright guy, so I'm surprised that you can't put two and two together here.
This is it for me too. Been surprised this first month that we've exceeded expectations and won without needing to do well in midfield. You're right and midfield is an obvious issue. I'm not relying on Guth and Danger to help that either. They are at an age where it's best to see them as bonus. But it does seem also that Scott is adapting a game style to this.
I have been shocked to look at disposal counts of opposition this year and was again today. We seem able to control games and do damage without necessarily having a lot of the ball. It's going back a while but for memory in 2011 in both our QF and GF win Hawthorn and Collingwood had 80-100 odd more disposals than us. Remains to be seen if this works against GWS and better sides. I'm skeptical but also hopeful with more games together the midfield group can improve enough to give us a shot against them.
Huh? They don't get low ToG because they have low endurance. They get low ToG because it's a deliberate tactic. Do you really think Dangerfield is considered unfit? Even he only gets 65 - 70% ToG at Geelong when fit.We should improve their endurance so their ToG and by extension, output, can increase accordingly.
Yeah, there's no real number one attacking player, so who do you set up for?Looking back on our last few wins, our inside midfield group has a real greater than the sum of its parts vibe. I wonder if the unpredictability created by our lack of stand out talent in the area. Pretty much everyone rotating through has a good defensive first mindset to just shut down their direct opponent. But when the ball bounces our way the opposition doesn't know where the attack is coming from, the punch they don't see does the damage.
Also, can we please never ever again see Sam De Koning in the ruck?
