Dante chance to play this week interesting Hayes not on the injury list...

"Imaging showed he has sustained a minor strain, with the 20-year-old set to be tested in the coming days to determine his eligibility for selection."

You can't put Hayes on the injury list and then turn around and play him if Dante is still out.

I can't be ****ed doing that. I just use my eyes during the game. Yesterday for instance saw him do some handy harassment pressure acts in the forward line that resulted in turnovers and goal scoring opportunities.

Maybe I'm wrong here but the modern game is more team orientated than in the past where players are instructed to sacrifice their own game for others to score or accumulate possessions.
If the ability to run between contests to apply pressure is his main kpi...then the bar is very, very low. Surely there are many other players who can apply similar pressure AND contribute more to the scoreboard than McEntee.
I'm no hater but it's time to give someone else a go at that role and see what they can acheive.

The worst part of all of this is that both teams were playing really poorly earlier in the season. They've finally hit peak form and we get to play them now..

Worst part?? Don’t agree at all- we want to be challenged in games leading into finals - not soft kills.

Blew his gasket mid way through the third, Briggs dominated and GWS score 4 goals in 10 minutes.

Not what we'll be wanting during the finals.

Which was my first point of reply:)

I know you can't because you just make shit up to suit your argument, but I'll ask anyway. How did he "blow his gasket midway through the 3rd" and how did Briggs dominate the 3rd and how did "4 goals in 10 mins" have anything to do with Hayes?

1 of those goals in the 3rd could loosely be attributed to Hayes as he mistimed a ruck contest that ended up a goal to Coniglio.

Hayes 3rd quarter was very good.

I'll wait for your post explaining each one of those goals and how Hayes should have done anything different to stop them. When you re-watch the quarter to get your reply ready and you realize how stupid your comment was, put in the memory bank and use it as a trigger to hold off from the post button when you're about to make other similar stupid comments.

Maybe admitting how stupid the post was might get a little bit of the very little credibility you have back as well.

A more experienced ruck of essentially the same age played better. Shocking. Briggs is a quality ruck. Saying that Hayes was only able to minimise his influence for a half is not the own you think it is. I missed where Briggs was waltzing the ball from the ruck contest, coasting into their 50 and nailing those 4 goals himself. GWS have excellent talent on their list and have been in good form. To lay them kicking goals solely on Hayes is absolute bullshit.

Have you missed the games where our other rucks have been beaten at stoppages and the other team had gotten a run on?

He has an injured shoulder. He played 59% of total game time. Considering he was subbed off early in Q4, approximately 6 minutes in, he was only active for 80% of the game. Of the time he was active he played 74% of the game time. Not awful for an injured ruck up

If we play Hayes he gets match conditioning and experience. While concerned to the SANFL for whatever reason he has been played out of position in the forward pocket and given little time in ruck. He doesn't need to be a star, just solid which he absolutely has the capability to be.

Here's 2 examples in the 3rd. With the second clearly showing he's just ball watching.

I flagged our lack of ruck expertise before the preseason started.

So to judge one’s credibility and call out someone for being stupid is a feeble way of making a contention:)

We tend to win games when Hayes plays. I know that simple fact is difficult to swallow for the haters
It's a fair call, a quick check also shows that most of his games have been against lower teams or at least games that we're expected to win.

One of these is a legitimate lost hit out, something that is going to happen no matter who your ruckman is. The ball also went through 3 players without our other defenders stopping it. The second one comes about after an awful decision and skill execution from one of the best players in the league. Something that also is going to happen occasionally.

I think people forget sometimes that there is an opposition out there and that sometimes our players will be beaten by those opposition. They won’t be perfect for a whole game. Gws are quality.

In that first one, I mean Hayes really is ball watching there. You feel like he's going to go and grab a deck chair.
Hayes wasn't too bad on the weekend.
I still would prefer Dante though. I'd go with the future.

In the first clip, I also thought Houston was ball watching and lost his man for an easy goal. Rozee tried to clean up but didn't have enough.
In the second one, I thought Butters tried to do a bit of razzle dazzle instead of the right play and it came unstuck. Butters is awesome but he sometimes tries for a bit too much sauce rather than the steak. If he can balance that out, he will be even better. And he's pretty awesome anyway.
