Got a feeling we’ll still pump Carlton

like honestly they’ve beaten GC FREO and hawks, Brisbane beat this mob by 26 at marvel and they suck on the road.

people need to chill 😂

I'd play the ghost of Cam O'Shea.

I still have night terrors remembering that game he played at Marvel against Carlton.

My take guess is that Aliir gets Curnow and Jonas is there solely to out body Mackay on forward entries making him less able to spring up to the forward ruck contests.

Expect lots of clumsy tackles.
Agreed, Curnow should be much too athletic for Jonas particularly on a fast deck like Marvel and could absolutely destroy him, so even given the height difference Mackay is the only probable matchup for him.

It will be interesting to see how the back 6 performs as a unit with him back in it, and also whether Voss, who should know his strengths and particularly his weaknesses will attempt to gain an advantage by isolating him one out near the goal square.

Remember that as much as Freo tried to play him into form, McKay's goal kicking skills are Carlton's achilles heel up front.

There is literally no aspect of football that Tom Jonas is better at than Ryan Burton or that Jackson Mead is better at than Quinton Narkle. Would've been more than happy to never have seen either of those names in a Port side again.
Mead I get as a last look, to see whether enough for another year. There’s no way Jonas should be anywhere near the side. It was hard enough to get him out last time. Unless he’s suspended again or actually really injured we’re now going to be hobbled with him the rest of the year.

Surely Timmy G not taking the piss?🤣

Haven't heard anything from Timmy G so I have no idea what you're referring to. But I know for a fact he's got a back injury and the Club are hoping it settles down in the coming week.

What do people see in Burgoyne apart from a name. Too light and cracks under AFL pressure.
He’s got decent skills and incredibly interesting physical attributes - agile with extremely long arms and good closing speed. Unique characteristics that could make him a great defender but he desperately needs to put some muscle on because he just has to avoid contact at all cost.

To me he unfortunately looks like one of those guys that never really does get the bulk and core strength required at this level.

Zakky Butters is slight and no one gives af

Because he plays bigger than his size and doesn't get shirked off the ball by a feather.

Burgoyne on the other hand...

Hitting blokes?

Main problems with selection.

- Mead just hasn't stepped up, at AFL or SANFL level, he's just not been able to get it together and reach the level he should. To bring him in as a mid replacing JHF is a big loss. Narkle is clearly a better choice here.

- Burton out hurts when we're already small, but to replace him with Burgoyne who has spent the last half dozen games playing as a wing and not a defender seems like another of these set our players up to fail move.

Outside of that it isn't too bad.
Lord for Dix, a loss but ok.
Lycett for Hayes, improvement but disappointing Hayes only got 1 crack.
Duursma for Rioli, obviously creates a bit of a shuffle, good to get Duurs back though.
Jonas for McKenzie, it is what it is.

We'll definitely go in weaker, ripe for the beating. Of course we can win, but this has loss written all over it now.

Nah nothing too exciting here. Not perfect but I don’t think we had perfect options.

We have clearly rated composure and speed down back over height. No way we were debuting Pasini instead of playing the captain and this is as good test as any to see if Jonas has anything left to give. Duursma’s inclusion allows Bergs to play back, he and or Jones will play as the third tall. Burgoyne covers Jones shift from covering small to tall forward. Mead will join the centre rotations and we will rest a mid forward.

Narkle or Mead is much of a much ness and Mead has been solid in the SANFL, happy to reward the form and see if he has something. If we played Evans, we would be down a mid rotation. If we played Sinn, we would be down a rotation or we would be throwing him in against a team that relies on their centre square mids. We don’t really have many other options.

Burton has been just ok. Maybe he is carrying something or maybe he is just out of form. He also can’t take a tall KPP, at least not at the moment.

Dixon - Lord
Hayes - Lycett
McKenzie - Jonas
Burton - Burgoyne
JHF - Duursma
Rioli - Mead

Burton is out because he should be showing way more both physically and talent wise than he’s been showing for a while. Maybe it’s a ruthless selection statement of sorts that never would have been made in the past.
