The suggestion of picking Fantasia is surprising. I want the kid to put injury behind him and get back to good football but to be honest, almost an entire team of players have offered more in the games that he's managed to play. He needs more game time and good performances.
Not sure anyone is making that suggestion seriously. Not the best conditions but he only got 9 touches yesterday and didn't trouble the scorers.

Like the massive advantage that Sean Darcy gave Freo today...
Strange take my dude. Could say the same with say, Judd at Carlton or Greene at GWS.

You would want them in your side, regardless of how their team performs.

Darcy is clearly a good player and far better than any ruck we have on our list currently, can really bolster our midfield output if he connects well.

That said, I dont think you sell the farm for a ruck though in general, if thats what it would take.

Of all the things you dont pay a big price for...its probably wingers and rucks. That is, unless its prime Lade or prime Dean Cox.

Take out yesterday's game in the Woodville tar pit and his SANFL performance hasn't been that bad imho. Not dominant but not woeful either.

His games against Centrals and the June game against the Eagles (where he picked up 17 disposals and five marks) were pretty good imho.

But you wouldn't put him in the A's after him only getting 7 touches yesterday, despite the conditions. Fact is that there really isn't an obvious match up for him in Carlton's forward line.

Judging a 211 games AFL CHB who is use to playing in a refined system against the rubbish in the SANFL is difficult. The standard of the SANFL is woeful, look at the state of the ground.

What do people expect from him in the SANFL? 15 odd touches, 5+ intercept marks?

I’m all for keeping our winning structure this year and if that means bringing in Jonas for a week or so then so be it.

Pasini clearly isn’t ready based on the sanfl reports most weeks and doesn’t t sound like he’s going to make it. Closer to delisting territory than getting a game.

And then we don’t have anyone else.

Rather than throw off our structure just plant him there and can always be subbed out if he can’t adjust to the game speed.

This game will be won in the middle. Control the clearance and reduce their fast entries for their tall forwards and we should be all over them.

We need to know what options we have in defence for finals if we are in this same position. Can we rely on Jonas if required or better of changing our structure instead? Only way we will know that is if we play him when someone else goes down.

Hayes also has to stay in if Lycett isn’t back once again to maintain structure.

Massive game. With Brisbane away to Melbourne this week, there is a big chance we could go three games clear of Brisbane.

Jonas is in, there's not question of that. Not sure whether to reward Evans on his form for Rioli, or Duursma straight in.

Would be okay with Narkle into starting line up, Duursma sub.

It’s possible, definitely a challenging run and we haven’t been that sharp the past few weeks.

I expect we go 2-2 but wouldn’t be shocked at 1-3, 3-1 or 4-0!

As long as we lock in top 2 should be focused getting cherry ripe physically for finals.
Yea we are due for a loss, but I've been saying that for weeks now.

I think the midfield would really need to go off the boil to drop 3, can't see it.

We have the toughest run home I think.
With Carlton now in the mix for a spot in the eight, next week’s game will not be an easy one by any means. Also Voss knows our players and game style inside out. And of course there are umpires to consider.

Definitely a tough 4 weeks coming up but I am thinking that if we want to make a real dent in finals we need to show we have what it takes by winning 2 or 3.

Agree, curnow relies on speed allot, something Jonas has not got. But Bergman and Jones have that in spades.
Curnow is also very tall, and unlike Ben King, he's quite strong too.

It will likely be a combo of Jones when he roams and Jonas inside 50.

Jonas is the only one that has the body strength to match.

Jones may get first crack but to go in without a plan B (Jonas) is being naive.

True. Particularly if Hinkley has made the call moments after the game that he's picking him and then he's not picked. I didn't hear Hinkley's presser but if he's announced that Jonas is in already then he's a f-wit.
There is two options - Jonas and Pasini. Anything else just throws our structures, and that's one thing we've been reluctant to do this season.

By all accounts, Pasini is not playing well. Jonas may not be either, but he's experienced and our captain, which gets him the nod over debuting someone out of form.

Don’t know why we’ve struggled against this side away. Since the start of ‘07, we’ve only beaten the blues in Melbourne twice (2014 and 2018), so this assignment will be anything but easy.
They're not a good match up for us.

Their forward line exposes our weaknesses, midfield nullifies our strengths (not current midfield but our old midfield), and previously run Weitering and Jones, done a decent job on our talls.

Our midfield should get on top this time around, but McKenzie out is huge worry

Jonas was poor again in the SANFL and struggled to stop state league level players, how do you expect him to go on Curnow?

Putting Jonas on Curnow is inviting him to kick a bag.

I thought the backline held up really well without McKenzie so I don't think Jonas should come in.

Out - McKenzie, Rioli
In - Duursma, Jackson
It held up well due to our midfield getting on top, and GC being poor. King had an absolute mare and was dropping uncontested marks.

It's not a good indicator
