Don't really see what that's got to do with his lack of composure when in the clear this season. Doctors and Burgess obviously cleared him to play and obviously he put himself up for selection.

I refer you to Nigel Lappin...

I think they should have rested the young fella.

I don't, if he was passed fit he plays, we need to get games into him now he at least has some sort of fitness base....mind you too many more games like the last 2 and form will come into that equation too. Fit and firing he's best 22 every time.
Ok, we'll agree to disagree is that ok? lets move along.

Nah, composure has never been his long suit but this season it's been all over the place for some reason.

Definitely shouldv passed to Tex but he did goal from about there in the trial game, went for glory when we needed someone to stand up, wouldv brought the house down had he got it after breaking away from the pack.

Instead was a selfish play and not team football. Allegedly short kicks in 50 to better positions was a focus in the off season to improve our conversion rate too, haven’t seen much evidence yet but looked good against West Coast.

Just watched the Jack Hombsch presser. Talking about celebrating Smith's 250th this week. So I guess we can already forget about any hope of them dropping him.

Starting to look like Rahilly was a massive loss in the coaches box.... Our forward line and the midfield connection with it, has been abysmal.
I have a hunch:
Burns, who has moved from Defensive Coach to Forward Coach (suggesting a multi-talent which I seriously doubt actually exists), wants to make an impression.
Leave his mark, so to speak.
Keep in mind, too, that our defence was expensive last year.
Thanks, Burnsy. Take over the forward zone. Talk about rewarding mediocrity, the AFC speciality!!

To do that, Burns is trying to change something that didn't need changing, because our Forwards did really well last year. I'll bet Tex and Co liked the old (2023) ways, too. They won't have forgotten everything Rahilly got them to do over the break. I suspect there's a disconnect between, if not a real resistance to, what the Forwards wanna do and what Burns is telling them.
WHY change what was working, I50?
To make matters worse, I doubt that Burns is liaising closely with VB to connect the forwards' movements (leads/positioning) and the mids' delivery I50.
Yeah, "mids' delivery" is an oxymoron.
Nicks has his snout in the clusterfick-trough too, with the reversion to defensive loss-minimisation via bomb it in.

The best of 2023 has broken down. Evaporated.
The players' hesitation, second-guessing and fumbles reflect the difference between what they did/want to do and what they've been told in 2024.
I'd say that's why the mids and the forwards look like they don't know what to do, any more; that's why they look so different from late 2023.

He said preseason he was going to spend more time forward.

Yet despite struggling to have a major impact in the middle, the coaches have neglected to use Laird up forward in the 1st 2 games.

Actions speak louder than words.

Hypothetical coaching job interview for Nicks at any other Club:

Interviewer: So, Nicksy, 4 years and 2 games with the Crows. What was your win-loss record?

Nicks: <BIG Nicks smile> I'm happy you asked.
" At Adelaide Oval
20-27 (42.6 per cent win rate)
At all other venues
9-30 (23.1 per cent win rate), and I'd like to add ..."

Interviewer (interrupts): NEXT, please!!

AFC gave him a 2-year extension ... :confusedv1: :drunk:

He’s good for a Murphy replacement
Sounds good to me & he can relieve Crouch when he's resting on the bench.

Soligo into the middle.
Nankervis to wing.

Edwardstown Seconds would look good against West Coast.

"against WC" is NO barometer.

Geelong had an interceptor and we didn’t.
That was why they won and we lost.
Yeah but we also played into that by bombing it in and they didn’t.
An interceptor was always going to work better on their side of the equation than it would have on ours.
