It will be fascinating to see what the selectors do if we have no injuries this weekend and Tex, Sloane and Knight are all ready to play Port.

Mackay v Knight, and possibly Greenwood v CEY, with Fogarty to come out for Tex.

Maybe Gallucci would be at risk but he was bloody impressive against the Suns.

Gooch will have to play well again tonight then.

Pressure for spots is a great thing.

Undoubtedly Fogarty and Gallucci if no injuries occur between now and then.

But in all likelihood an injury will save Gallucci.
That would leave us with no crumbing small forward besides Betts. Compared to earlier in he year, we’ve effectively dropped Murphy (small forward) for Milera (HBF).

He's fast, strong, and a good tackler. That's the positives.

He doesn't get enough of the pill, has extremely poor situational awareness, and even worse decision making skills (i.e. low football IQ). Those are the negatives. Factor in his injury history, and he's highly likely to be delisted at the end of the year.

Fast, big and strong are massive positives for any player. Pretty much fast tracks a player to stardom providing the rest of his game is at an adequate level.

Low football IQ will cripple any player, and yes, I do agree he'll be delisted at seasons end.

So you would have kept Poholke over Mackay, despite Poholke getting just 8 and 10 touches in his 2 games and only being able to play as a pressure forward at this point in time?

That's basically the choice the selectors were faced with. I'm not Mackay's biggest fanboy, but who to pick out of Mackay and Poholke isn't a hard decision to make when he's not hitting the scoreboard and averaging 9 touches per game.

Oh easily. Poholke at least has a promising future.

Mackay is just the same spud we've selected for 180 games, both are in that 21-22 spot and have minimal impact on our likelihood of beating an SANFL side.

One would argue a forward flank probably is a good spot for Atkins. Bar the Sydney game he's struggled to get involved.

But you continue your ridiculous stance.

You mean Atkins who is currently averaging 22.2 disposals per game (and Sydney game was only 24, he hit 28 against Magpies/Suns). He has some issues being hot and cold/decision making, but is currently starting to build a decently good season on the wing.

Considering his job is to **** it up on the outside by uncontested ball and move it forward judging on his hardness at the contest isn't exactly a ringing endorsement to your point.

He would be lineball, Rat was putrid up until the Sydney game, where he started on the wing and pushed forward at every opportunity. Rat is your classic front running wingman, he would be well suited to a half forward flank.

All 3 of Milera, Mackay and Rat have co-existed in the same side all year with reasonable success.

No he wouldn't. You're whinging about his defensive work and then want to put him in a position where his defensive work actually matters? (Seeing pressuring half forwards are a vital part of a zonal defense working)

A shit defender is more suited to wing/half back, as defensive work there is a bonus.

Not having a crack at you, but a wingman has to work both ways, at least the best ones do.

Far out, so Knight genuinely managed. Unless 2 players under a cloud or 1 cerain non-starter.
The club appears to be taking a more cautious approach with player management, which is good for testing our depth.

I guess that Rat is the rare best that runs in the top few % of kms covered while only running forward. Your assessment of him is miles off the mark.
Of course he runs defensively, just nowhere near as hard. Defensive action isn't his go, which is fine on its own but coupled with his lack of physical pressure it becomes glaring

Doubt it, they selected him 2 weeks ago off of nothing. The coaches rate him, at worst he'll get a rookie spot.
