Both Hartigan and Otten were putrid tonight

Down back I would take Hartigan over Otten every day of the week, Otten down back is exposed and at least Hartigan has really good closing speed

True. Hartigan just ****ing infuriated me tonight. Misjudged flight of the ball so many times. Wanted someone to shake him

ADELAIDE
Clever forward Troy Menzel has overcome a corked quad to be named in the Adelaide squad to face Glenelg on Saturday. Menzel has been joined by first-year draftee Jordan Gallucci and development player Kurt Waterman in the 23-man list. Former Panther Sam Tharaldsen is the only certain exclusion at this stage, with two players to be cut before the bounce.

League

F: Hunter, Dear, Leigh
HF: Menzel, Himmelberg, Jarman
C: Gallucci, Thompson, Beech
HB: Poholke, Doedee, Signorello
B: Wigg, Keath, Cheney
R: O’Brien, Knight, Gore
INT: Hill, Murphy, T. Lever, Pinyon, Waterman

After a defeat like that, i'd hope that everyone in this team sees a chance to break into the firsts with a tough hard effort tomorrow.

At the very least, Lever has an ankle, so he should be replaced. There must be at least one change.

Which hard players that aren't soft are in our SANFL side?

I'm thinking there are 2, Cheney and Beech and unfortunately none are mids.

Atkins needs to be put on ******* notice. Perform like that in a big game against a quality opponent again and you're on the trade table. What's the point of a player who has never stood up under anything resembling pressure and is showing no signs of changing? Yay look at me against the shit teams. I can't think of any more blatant examples of downhill skiers in the entire league than him and Smith. It's infuriating.
Atkins is fast becoming our Kyle Reimers

We're not too tall, we're not too slow. Geelong didn't run the ball off the HBF with glee. We generated heaps of overlap run and carry to deliver quality ball to our forward line. It's just our midfield didn't have the right mindset on the night. We should double down and go taller if anything.

Out: Milera, Atkins
In: Dear, ROB

Am i doing it right Adelaide Crows selection committee?

**** I'll be furious if another player is dropped as a token gesture only to reappear the following week without playing SANFL, or without actually playing well in the SANFL

There'll be a maximum of 2 unforced changes (I'd suggest 1 is far more likely), in addition to Lever likely missing with his ankle.

The good news is that at least one of Doedee / Cheney will play. Both are very deserving of a call-up IMO.

My best guess of what will actually transpire is...

In: Doedee, Cheney
Out: Lever (inj), Otten (managed)

We know Mackay, Atkins, Hartigan, Smith were all puke, but none of them other than Mackay will even be discussed by selectors who will back the proven downhill skiers to respond. We also all saw that Talia was playing injured (note the strapping on his lower leg if anyone can bear to watch the replay). Jacobs is another who clearly can't handle 6 day breaks - he was lethargic and non-conpetitive. Laird was obviously rattled by the knock he copped and I'm far from convinced that concussion testing in the AFL is up to par to be honest.

Elite standards. Yeah right. More like elite arrogance. Brad Crouch on Joel Selwood to start the game. Wow. This was literally the 4th of 3 options. Matt Crouch. Sloane. Greenwood. They were Joel's potential opponents. **** sake I almost fell off the couch when I saw them line up. Lo and behold Selwood has 23 touches at half time, the game is over and Pyke changes the matchup once it's too late. Unreal.

Edit: if Knight plays a blinder tomorrow he'll probably come in ahead of one of the two I've mentioned. I'll be attending the game and watching him closely.

Knight and Doedee are hard as nails.

Poholke will eat people in a few years time but isn't there yet. Gallucci will never shirk either but like Poholke, isn't there yet.

We really need Knight back in that half forward / mid role.

Sweeping changes necessary. Some players can get ****** on tonight's effort.

Out:
Mackay - permanently. Awful under even the slightest pressure.
Otten - also permanently. Too slow, no forward pressure of any kind. Backup for Jenkins or a defender ONLY
Smith - disgusting in the first half and barely passable after that. Not the first time he hasn't stood up.
Atkins - disgusting for the entire match. What a downhill skiing turd. **** off until your hair returns to a normal color.
Talia - yep, I'm saying it. He was disgraceful tonight and offered utterly nothing. 1 touch half way through the 4th quarter. Considering how much ball went inside Geelong's 50...
Walker - I don't care if you're the captain. A month of putrid football. Get out.

In:
Knight
Menzel
Beech
Doedee
Cheney
Gallucci

B Brown - Lever - Cheney
HB Doedee - Hartigan - Laird
C Gallucci - Douglas - Milera
HF Menzel - Lynch - Beech
F Betts - Jenkins - Cameron
R Jacobs - Sloane - M. Crouch

I B. Crouch - Knight - Kelly - Greenwood

No room for Wigg???

Have we heard anything about Lever's injury?

"Defender Jake Lever will be assessed over the coming days after appearing to injure his right ankle late in the fourth quarter.

Pyke did not have an update on the emerging backmen's status, although the Crows' medical staff attempted to re-strap the ankle and there was the thought that Lever could have gone back on had the game not been out of reach."

Post of the decade
Ruthlessness is now needed
Need to plan which free agent mid we'll trade in or the drought will easily enter the fourth decade

We wont get Martin, I am not sure about Gibbs but I would like to see us go all out for Rockliff.

I want to expand a little on this and change things up. I was as disappointed and surprised as everyone else when Mackay was selected through this farce.

But I want to make a suggestion based on this idea of tokenism. Now Mackay is one player definitely in the gun this week, was non-threatening and non-effective. So his removal from the side wouldn't cause me any issue.

But

What message does that send to those who clearly need a rocket? I don't think anyone truly expects 7 changes, nor 5 , so if 3 changes is going to be your minimum then there are far different players to drop who would send shudders through the side. I think Otten is tired and should go. And my message players are Smith and Atkins. I don't care if both got 30 touches last week, its when the heat was on they wilted.

If Mackay gets dropped then others coast, which has been the issue all along.

Out: Otten, Smith, Atkins (Lever assess injury)

Out: Mackay, Otten, Lever (inj) is what will happen

I hope you don't know what your talking about.

Is this the word on the streets that Wigg will leave. Is there any substance to the rumour

Not sure he'll be at Brisbane but he sure as hell won't be at the Crows.

I don't think the coaches rate him whatsoever and it seems we've already moved on to newer players like Gallucci and Poholke. No point playing him either because he's just not that good (and that's my opinion, after watching him in the SANFL on TV)
