Never really Edwards that highly tbh. He has the smarts but doesn’t have the pace of skills to be of use outside and inside he isn’t really contested ball winning type. Unluckily for him he was drafted a decade too late
This is true, he would have been a way better player if we'd drafted him as an 8 year old

I have May #1 defender in the AFL over the last few seasons. I'm not saying bazzo will match him but people are saying he doesn't have the frame to be KPD so we should draft a KPD, and also that he will only be 3rd D50 tall. He'll have the size to be KPD not problem. If he doesn't make it, It won't be his size.

Bazzo will get bigger. His size is less of an issue than his kicking, he's got a weak boot.

I just want Bazzo to play with more intent. Too many busted tackles and trailing players on the lead. He's a very talented kid and hopefully that belief comes soon, because I don't think it's there yet.

I think it's more a case of when it comes together rather than if.

Out: Darllng? (was clearly playing hampered and nowhere near it), Gaff, XON

In: SPS, LEdwards, Trew or Clark

This won't be popular, but need to look at giving Allen one or 2 runs in the ruck or behind the ball to get him into games. His last 3 weeks have been very quiet. He is too good a player to have only 17 touches in the last 3 weeks

At least he isn't getting injured in a year that is already wasted.
The only reason he isn't kicking more goals and taking more marks is the delivery he is, or isn't, getting.
Dump kicks that set up a perfect Golden Fist or pin point passes to the oppo standing by themselves don't help.

If we have Shuey and Kelly coming out the middle he may see a few better deliveries. Hewett and Chesser coming along as well.

Oh good, the argument about Simmo never dropping any senior players, apart from the senior players that he dropped because they don’t count as senior players because he dropped them.

It’s been a few weeks since we’ve gone around that maypole.

Hurn and Shuey you’d assume are straight back in. Cole probably comes into the 22 after being eased in as the sub

It becomes less obvious for any ins after that - Edwards travelled as an emergency but was left out of the 23 so not sure he’s forcing his way in. Of the players possibly returning from injury (Foley, Trew, Clark, Winder, Jamieson and SPS) only SPS could be considered as a straight back in and that’s doubtful

So I think just the three ins

Who comes out?

O’Neill is the most obvious one

There’s no injuries we’re aware of. Yet - although Darling seems to be playing sore. Give him a spell and try Barrass up forward again since Gov, Hurn and Bazzo is enough talls down back. If Darling plays however then Bazzo likely gets squeezed out as one tall too many

The third out becomes a test of how committed Simpson is to the rebuild. Unless there’s some discrete role Gaff has been playing that’s not obvious to us plebs then on form his continuing selection cannot be justified. The younger players - Ginbey, Chesser, Hewett, Maric and Long are all outperforming him. So unless Ginbey needs a rest, perhaps as the sub, because he looks a little worn down after playing every game so far then Gaff should be omitted

My outs - O’Neill, Darling, Gaff

I doubt that happens but if it does there can’t have been too many games since Darling and Gaff debuted together in R1, 2011 that both players missed

Piggybacking off Keys’ post to an extent.

In: Hurn, Shuey
Out: Darling (inj), O’Neill,

Backs: Barrass/Bazzo, McGovern, Hurn, Duggan/Shuey, Cole, Hough, Hunt
Mids: Kelly, Shuey/Duggan, Ginbey, Sheed, Gaff, Chesser
Rucks: Williams x2
Forwards: Allen, Bazzo/Barrass, Maric, Cripps, Long, Petch, Hewett
Sub: Cole again
Emergencies: O’Neill (held over), Ledwards, SPS (WAFL)
Also WAFL: whoever’s fit out of Clark, Foley, Jamieson, Winder, Barnett, Trew, Dewar, Baker

Shuey for O’Neill is obvious.

Tigers short forward line means one of the key backs can go forward to replace Darling, don’t really care who it is.

Cole to get another go as the sub, doubt he’s ready to play a full game yet and with our record lately he’s a good chance to get on before halftime anyway.

Doubt Gaff gets dropped, but I’d strongly consider Ledwards as his replacement if they do decide to send a message.

I get what ya mean but but blokes like Jetta and Schoey were never simmo’s faves and we were frequently dropped. Gaffs been one of Simmo’s faves and I can see why he isn’t being dropped. Tho I’m bery much in Gaff being dropped

Quite simply, Gaff are among Simmo's undroppables.
He will back them in no matter what, just like when ppl were pushing for JD to be dropped.
Sheed after the GF probably viewed the same way by Simmo.
Any suggestion that any of them would be dropped is just wishful thinking.

Gaff won’t be dropped - coz Jacko said he needs to go (todays West) and WCE won’t be told what to do.

Saturday morning Sportstalk doesn’t seem to have cottoned onto sub- par performances by Sheed and Gaff - at least not when I’ve been listening.

If it can be achieved now is a great time to drop one/both players.

Would send a very powerful message. ‘We’re scraping the bottom of the barrel but you still don’t make the grade’

JK quoted in Mark Duffield’s latest article saying that he’s not sure whether playing WAFL will do Gaff any good.

I don’t really understand that line of thinking. It’s as though the good of the player is put before the good of the collective.

If you’re playing injured, by all means take a break and recuperate. But you come back via the WAFL once you deserve a recall.

JK hasn’t been gone too long to make calls like dropping his mate and will more than likely to back em in. Give it a year or two
