In : Wellingham, Sheed, Hutch

Sub : Colledge

Not convinced Hutch needs weeks in WAFL if its going to rain. Has good attitude for an arm wrestle in the mud. Butler,Hill too soft

Sam wont get the same time at afl level to dispose of the ball.
He will have to make some adjustments to his game at afl level, and his kicking efficiency may suffer.

IIRC his kicking efficiency was classed as elite last year by Champion data.

His issue will be playing on the really fast forwards, any other forward should be fine. He uses his body quite well.

Something like this:

Bennell Mackenzie Glass
Sheppard Brown Yeo
Rosa Priddis Ellis
Wellingham Kennedy Hill
Cripps Lycett Darling

Cox Selwood Hutchings

I: Gaff Sheed Colledge
S: Naitanui
Lycett to replace Sinclair already? It has to happen but maybe not for a few games yet. Let Sinclair get a good long run and familiarisation first. He may need it later in the year. Interesting that both Sheed and Colledge could be in the same team. Love this playing young gun stuff and trying them out. What about Tunbridge for Hill in your team? 3 young guns! Never happen on Johnnie Ws watch.

My gut feeling is his AFL time is over. Carter is quicker and Wilson probably deserves a go. Seems to be developing nicely and has a tough approach to the contest

I don't think that Lycett will replace Sinclair. But if we are selecting a second ruckman (rather than a third), I think Lycett is the better option.

Tunbridge hasn't played a game in a while. If he plays well in the WAFL this week I'd pick him next week for sure, maybe as sub.

Considering the weather over here in Melbourne and the fact there is more to come I'd be very surprised if we took 3 talls (Cox/Nic Nat & one of Sincliar/Lycett) into the game. It is wet, wet and wet. Ideally we need a Tony Evans type wet weather specialist to come in. The tall timber won't get near it when it hits the deck.

Out: Lecras (inj), Shuey (inj), Masten (inj), Sinclair (too tall it's wet)
In: Wellingham, Hill with 2 of Sheed/Hutchings/Butler.
Sub: Schofield

I'd be tempted to house Butler on Bartel all game.
However having the extra midfielder in the wet with Sheed/Hutchings makes sense.
Very interesting what Simpson and the MC devise.

with Shuey now an out..

OUT: Shuey, LeCras, Masten, Sinclair, Schofield
IN: Hill, Wellingham, Sheed, Butler, Hutchings

SUB: Colledge

Cripps to play LeCras' role (it suits his abilities far more than his current role does), Hill to take Cripps' role (2 goals is all we need and Hill can deliver that plus some decent forward pressure), Sheed and Wellingham to move between Wing, Half-Forward and Inside-Mid rotations (a la Shuey and Masten), Butler to release Ellis and/or Yeo up the ground and Colledge to replace Hutchings in the fourth (HF/Inside rotation).

Keep in mind while both us and the Cats have decent ruckman, their caveat is Blicavs - an Olympic-elite runner, as opposed to the ruckman as AFL-elite runner, which we have an abundance of. Going in three-pronged is a big mistake.

Think this is my third crack at it, oh well
Out: LeCras (inj), Masten (inj), Shuey (idiot), Sinclair (too tall), Colledge (sorry Brant)
In: Hill, Wellingham, Hutchings, Sheed, Butler

B: Bennell, MacKenzie, Glass
HB: Ellis, Brown, Sheppard
C: Rosa, Priddis, Gaff
HF: Yeo, Darling, Cripps
F: Naitanui, Kennedy, Hill
R: Cox, Wellingham, Selwood
I: Butler, Sheed, Hutchings
S: Schofield
E: Sinclair, Colledge, Carter

Butler in as the 7th defender, releasing Yeo (or maybe Ellis) to the midfield.

Schofield stays in as sub.

Big test for guys likes Hutchings and Sheed in the absence of Shuey and Masto.

Rest NN - he is flat and probably sore as suggested based on last weeks performance.
Lysett to bullock in the wet and be recognise as a valued member
Rest Cox who isn't my favourite in the wet and play Sinkers - all Port Melbourne players go ok in the wet. This saves Cox a slog and a travel to freshen him up at no loss.
Bring in Paddy Mac with Wellers. If Paddy is reported so be it but he gest to stop SJ.

Sheed to get a run against Port at home.

Teach the team to play harder and not be soft targets as they were against saints.

NO Paddy, he should have been delisted last year.

I definitely think we need to release Yeo into the midfield and see what he can do. Now is as good a time as any.

You're right. BOM has mention of showers.

weather.com.au (which I find to be the most accurate) has 0% chance of rain for the weekend. Although as most sites are predicting rain including BOM it's probably not a trustworthy forecast in this case.

I still support going much smaller as a team, even if it doesn't rain.
It's Geelong - don't bother with a forecast

Out Lecras (inj), Gaff(inj), Shuey(susp), Masten (inj), Selwood (inj).. Wellingham to miss another week (inj)

Priddis to collect 35 possessions,10 clearances, 12 tackles and 2 goals to be declared worst on ground by eagle supporters on Big Footy

Thats because 45 of them will be turnovers ;)
