Cast your minds to round 3 2017. We were just pumped by port and made 5 or so changes to face the reining premiership team Bulldogs.
We brought in players who weren’t given opportunity..we won that game and then a few in the trot.

Time to recreate history. Bulldogs are this week.
We made 6 changes that game with a couple of debutants. 6!

Dawson, Griffen, Pearce etc were dropped.

Jlo step up sir and be a coach of character. Will pump this into the media Monday morning.

I would bring in Worner on a wing. He came to us as a winger and played wing his first year at Peel before being moved to hbf. I have always considered he won’t make it as an afl footballer but he was quite good against Brisbane and slotted in seamlessly yesterday at Peel. That would free up Johnson or O’Meara to play at Peel.

I would think about Stanley as a high half forward. He is pacy, big bodied, physical and a cracking long kick, it seems. We need someone like that. Think Cam Zurhaar.

Worner is too slow for AFL. Wagner or Stanley are physically capable though.

Amazing how people don't seem to understand that Erasmus isn't attending many if any cba's. Yet they think he's keeping Brodie out.

He's not
Agreed. Ras need to be in the midfield. He was starting in the goal square for some of the centre bounces last night.
I was big on him. He needs a run at playing as a starter and a whole game before I’m off him and he’s a a miss.

Regardless of positioning his skills are c grade ammo’s.

Is the club and selection committee under the impression that we owe JOM something? We will be paying him well long after his decline, take the L and dont double down on it by gifting him games. I can stomach playing Walters, he has been a great servant of the club.

I am convinced he was told he wouldnt play WAFL as a condition of him coming over.

THis forum is going to get even more grim if Lobb kicks a bag on us next week and we go to 3-4

Reality is Harley Reid is going to reach levels I don't think Brayshaw is going to get close to, our highest draft pick (2) in a very long time.

Serong and Young could be our best, but Johnson and Erasmus are looking less likely than likely at this stage.

Of course he falls right into the lap of west coast. Just had to be them. FMD.

A player comes in off a limited preseason and a history of injuries and never getting a run at it, kicks a fifth of our total goal tally and some of you idiots want him dropped?

The IQ levels around here are at an all time low

Again.... I will defend Sam Sturt. He wont be and shouldnt be dropped in my honest opinion. Bloke offers next to nothing as a defensive forward or doesnt tackle but he is an accurate kick for goal.

People on here are crying out for blokes that can kick goals. Yeah take away tonights game. Last time Sam Sturt played against west coast was Round 22 in 2023. Bloke got 12 disposals and 4 goals.

Dockers are begging for forwards to kick goals. I love small and medium sized forwards in Sam Switkowski offering pressure and chasing hard, but he doesnt kick enough goals. You definately need a switkowski or 2 type player in the forward line though.

I wanna back Sam Sturt this week vs the dogs in Perth. Watch Sam Sturt kick 3 or 4 goals next week. Tonight is a bad night but I think freo will bounce back vs the dogs.

Given Amiss is an out, I think Sturt stays in as the replacement lead up forward who can dob them from 50. I did noticed against WC there were a lot of kicks put over his head or too short, but I’m not sure if it’s his leading patterns or the player with the balls fault

Two good kicks to Sturts advantage resulted in goals.

Sam Sturt has a much better opportunity next week when you bring in our pressure players with Freddy and Switta. If you had an entire forward line of Amiss and Switta you'd lose every week. Sturt was bought in to replace Switta/Freddy. Pressure players. He needed to pressure to fill that gap, and he didn't.

He was brought in to play that role but ended up being the leading up target when Amiss got hurt early so played a different role

Sturt needs to not flinch in the contest regardless of his weight.

He stays in though. 2 goals.
I recon injury after injury can play with your head a bit in that regard.

We're not winning a premiership this year, he needs to stay in the fwd line and build some consistency because he's the X factor we desperately need.

Goals don't really matter all that much when you're down 60 halfway through the third quarter.

We wouldn't have been down 60 if we had kicked more goals, that is how numbers work.

We lost this game way before that when we had the ball in our forward line for the entire first quarter and couldn't kick a single goal.

You don't win many games with less than 10 goals on the board. We need to find a way to score more if we are ever to be a serious finals team.

I think he was brought in to give us more goal kicking options. More for Freddie than Switta. He got the Freddie goal plus one. The rest just didn't give the Switta pressure. Freddie doesn't bring that much physical pressure. It is his speed that makes him dangerous and effective. And bobbing up with the odd goal.
