Why is anyone thinking that we have any chance to win this one?

If Carlton get multiple players injured (not something I’m hoping for in any way) and have to change their structure and play style so much that us scoring 7 goals keeps us in the game - then I’d give us a very small chance of scrapping our way to boring and irrelevant win.

Forget the result - what we need to do is play the talent. No matter what. No yo-yoing.

Keane was close to our best last week.

I thought Nank and Cook showed the type of stuff that had me nodding my head for the first time this year.

I love Rankine up forward, but he needs to have regular visits to the centre bounce.

Ffs, play Rachele solely in the middle for a few games. Give him the CBAs. Don’t be scared.

I want to see Curtin learning in the AFL, not the SANFL.

I want Dowling / Ryan / Edwards to have a prolonged stint in the 23.

I want Gallant to show me if he’s got it or not. Can he take the next step? Maybe he works well with Fog and Thilthorpe in the long term?

But who cares what I want right? I mean, the club know what’s best. I have had enough to do with elite sport to know that we do not have all the facts, for sure the club have more info to make their decisions … and that extra detail can push the needle. BUT we are past that point now where the detail matters at all - we need to get the big cultural decisions front and centre.

What do we stand for onfield? Ask another supporter to describe the Crows game-day brand right now … good luck.

Line in the sand time for me.

Or not.

Depends who they are serving really.

Who does Nicks ultimately serve? It’s just a hobby for us supporters remember.

Yay! I love this 25 year merry go round of pain!!

Ryan off half back could also be an option.

I’d like to see Curtin on the wing. Nank on the other. Jones deserves to be dropped, he’s had a s**t year.

Yeah/nah, now you are talking bull, taurus :sneaky: .

I'll save you some dough:
Carlton beat Fremantle AWAY here in Adelaide, boring game or not.
Fremantle belted us by 35 points; Crows kicked 4.10 :poov1:.

Crows play badly away, also at home too this year , but mostly away.
It's Carlton, at Marvel.
We're 0-4, Carlton 4-0.
SO ...
Crows by 20, finishing over the top . Put your house on it (better than one of Mick's Multies and we all know they are :sparkles:gold:sparkles:).
Hi mate,

No bull on my part even though my temperament is akin to a bull 😄

I'm not good with general tipping but my niche is value bet. Certainty won't bet a house! I would have been homeless a long time ago!

The Crows were overrated after an amazing run last year which was an outlier in the context of the squad they had. I think Nicksy realised this hence more conservative approach this year (maybe I'm being generous, after all, he was my fav player).

However, the Crows isn't a bad team. They are not good enough but not a bad team neither. I think the Blues are good but not good enough to win the premiership. Like any team on ascendancy, the blues are getting luck. They are due for a loss.

I know the club wont ever try it but we should give Curtin a go up forward instead of Burgess.
Lets back in our #8 pick and get him into the fold.
The club have Curtin pigeoned holed into a backman and once again, wont experiment to see if we can achieve something with a greater cause.
But Marvel is our bogie ground, we just get horrors every time we play there for some reason
I cant see it changing this week

With Dowling, we needed to select him after his BOG performance.

We do this all the time where a player will be BOG by a distance that isn't funny but then we select Sholl or Parnell who wasn't in our bests because we trust them more (for some insane reason).

Youngsters need to understand they must be BOG in the SANFL for 8 weeks, then hope we have an injury, then you will play a role in the seniors you have never played before.

It has to be soul destroying for them. I’m surprised guys like Woz and Nank have hung around.

AFC sure has a culture of gaslighting the kids.

It’s the lure of, once you’re over 24 and you’re in, you’re IN.

Nicks said Hamill for Parnell - well strongly hinted at that in his presser
i hope not. Hammil was poor against South. Missed some key balls and stuffed up several kicks at key times.

The lack of game time by the reserves is going to cost some players the opportunity to get a run in the ones.

I would look at one debut. if it was me i would choose Ryan as a replacement for Parnell. He uses the ball well has pace and has good offensive/defensive balance in his game. The debut helps lifts the team. but it doesnt look like its going to happen based on what ive heard.

The Cook Nank experiment on the wings made us look better, particularly in the first half when their height, pace and creativity on the wings was evident. It must continue.

I would bring Berg back if Strauchnie does not get a gig and i think he should.

Lets not get rigid in our belief that Berg can only play back. He was very good in the reserves in this position in the latter part of the year. I know he's had his chances, but he has to be better than the set up we have used so far. He can also add a point of difference with his height and ability to take an occasional pack mark cf with another leading forward in Burgess, who is too much of the same as Tex and Fog and is not up to it as a second ruck anyway. Gollant was not very good in the game against South playing from behind and kicking poorly for goal. Only problem he has not played for last month so probably wont happen. Curious man management !!! Even Borlase would be better as the second ruck!!

A month ago I was looking forward to this game - my roster had the Saturday off work without having to swap and it was the first game in Melbourne for the season

Earlier in the week the option of band practice on Saturday came up and I decided that would be an infinitely better way to spend a rare Saturday off

Rest of your post is valid :thumbsu: .

I think Michalanney has elite attributes; good skills, good mover, calm head on young shoulders.
Does Rankine meet the "young" description?
Fogarty is an elite kick, could be anything if he wants; he'd be a star in Collingwood or Melbourne or even PA,
Soligo, Rachele, Pedlar, all in time.
Yeah I thought I mentioned Soligo. He has shown he will be elite but he is a little inconsistent. If I missed Michalanney then thats a mistake on my part because I actually think he is one that has been good and consistent but still has a way to go to be considered Elite. I love Pedlar but again no consistency. He has patches of real determination and is courageous but he disappears for a large chunk of the game. When you think about our potentially good players what is holding them back is consistency. I include TT & Fog in that vein. If Fog and TT could play the entire game at their best level and then every week we would produce a different result to what we are doing now. Sadly they just havent lived up to what they promised.

Agree. I'm working this weekend and there was a possibility of knocking off early on Saturday so I could head to the start of the game - this now holds extremely limited appeal. I can't remember the last time I enjoyed watching us play at Marvel and yet I've continued to attend for years. The "Petrenko Game" was 11 years ago and that might be the last time anything good happened there for us (and I missed that one for work too). Since then I've seen Brodie Smith have a seizure and Tom Doedee get his cerebral cortex similarly reorganized by running back with the flight of the ball into McDonald-Tipungwuti (I'm not sure how he survived that, to be honest), and I don't reckon I've seen many (any?) wins. Getting beaten repeatedly by teams as bad and as boring as St Kilda, Essendon and Carlton - at times when those were not good teams.

What I think will happen - we lead 3 goals 8 behinds to 2 goals 1 at quarter time. After quarter time we kick approximately 1 goal 2 behinds for the remainder of the match, are down by 7 goals with ten minutes to play, and kick the last 3-4 of the match to end up with a margin somewhere between 15 and 25 points to give everyone the same false hope we've been peddling for years.

Depressing.

11-17 away vs Carlton. Surprised its not worse actually.

But in recent years we've struggled away against them, even when we were better than them.

And we almost never win away under Nicks.

Carlton should be unbackable.
