I was originally thinking this:

but on reflection this might be more appropriate (just needs the mask):

... seems benign enough but has that "don't mess with me" look in his eyes.

immortalmike our protector ... keeping the board safe for all Bulldog fans.

Nailed it. I do resemble the latter image in more ways than I'm comfortable admitting.

The problem with that ladder is this: go look at the standings of Toby McLean, clay Smith and Marcus Adams in the player ratings. All three are easily best 22 and all play important roles, including match winning roles in some cases. But they'd probably barely crack the 300. Which means they don't affect that ladder much.

I understand what you're saying completely and posting that article wasn't meant to be a dig saying "the Dogs have had a good run with injury stop complaining guys."

It's a bit similar to the suggestion that a team regarded as being propped up by "dad's army, old folks, geriatrics" doesn't suffer when Wells and Waite are out injured, they're both match winners.

The injuries to the younger/mid aged blokes like Higgins, Wood, Wright, Jacobs, McDonald and Garner have probably hurt just as much as the geriatrics though.

I love waltzing into a team change thread on a thursday afternoon and there's opposition posters trading hostilities.

We must be playing norf.

I'm a North Melbourne supporter.
I really like the Western Bulldogs. Great coach, fantastic players, very good club culture, exciting to watch and Bob Murphy is a LEGEND.
Anyway, I hope we SMASH you guys! :)

Thanks!

That was King Harold ... especially when he'd get shooting pains in the eye.

Huzza! We just don't get enough references to 1066 round here (bf seems to have more Simpsons than Historical buffs for some reason that escapes me). Having said that, I suspect that this is the only place on bigfooty that ever does.

Bulldogs are now (after Round 19) sixth overall for the season for points lost through injury. Over the last three weeks they are fourth behind Fremantle, Gold Coast and Brisbane, so the most affected of those bound for finals.

The injury ladder was based on the average performance of the players that were missing, but the overall standings on the AFL website are based on cumulative numbers, so players who haven't played regularly will naturally be lower.

16th - 22nd in a club's best 22 is equivalent to being (16*18 = 288, 17*18 = 306, ... , 22*18 = 396) so anyone in the top-400 players is essentially equivalent to a "Best 22" player on average across all 18 teams.

Of players with 5+ games since the start of 2015,:
  • Marcus Adams is 230th for average per game (equivalent of 13th player in average team's best 22)
  • Toby McLean is 285th (16th of 22)
  • Clay Smith is 389th (22nd of 22)

INS:

Morris, M. Boyd, Hrovat, Webb
