Agree here re port and some bulls. Wines and kinda boak to a degree will be hard to move and get around for our mids. Brander although a little lanky will add some body presence. Would keep O'niell back in the fwd line as a rotation option instead of Langdon but have Brander in the guts using his size.

Shuey for Langdon if he’s available. O’Neill and Shuey to split a midfield spot. Langdon to be the sub, he’s copped knocks basically every game he’s played for us so a week off would be handy.

Hopefully Williams and Waterman play WAFL and play well.

B: Sheppard, Barrass, Hurn
HB: Nelson, McGovern, Cole
C: Gaff, Kelly, Duggan
HF: Cripps, Darling, Shuey
F: Ryan, Kennedy, Allen
R: Naitanui, Sheed, Redden
I: Vardy, Rotham, O’Neill, Jones
E: Langdon (sub), Ah Chee, Brander, Witherden

Outs: Vardy, XON (Very unlucky but only if Shuey's ready).
Ins: Edwards or Brander, Shuey (if ready)

Reality is Shuey won't be ready for another two weeks at best and Vardy provides absolutely nothing and has been sh*t for the past three years after the 2018 GF. Unfortunately Nic Nat cannot play 85-90% TOG as it's unsustainable for him given is ACL history and being best suited as an explosive type player. Allen must be a forward at all costs so Edwards should come in (I wish) as he's ruck sized and can give our defenders a chop out especially for Gov as he doesn't have the best tank.

Vardy hasn’t been sh*t for 2 years straight, far from it. Need I remind you of the fact he was a major reason we won a flag in 2018.
Unfortunately he is :( A poster mentioned that in 2018, he averaged 15 hitouts and less than 10 disposals so he's been poor or sub par during his time at West Coast. Injuries have killed his elite athleticism and now he's a plodder. I'm happy he played his best game which helped us to win the 2018 GF but unfortunately we'll very likely never get the best version of Vardy that helped us win the 2018 GF.

What nonsense. Sheed was number one for CP's today. His best footy (finals 2018-mid 2019) were as a result of him spending mostly inside.
Sheed is being forced to play inside as there is nobody else. It's not his best position. His DE has been very poor the last 2 weeks because of this.

You’d think for someone that hasn’t played for a year and a half, you’d all be a little more lenient.
You're going to need to fire up that Vardy hate thread mate because if he keeps playing he's going to keep copping it.
At this point I'd rather bring back Mitch Brown to play his patented forward pocket/ruck role than keep Vardy in the side, that's how much Vardy sucks

He isn't the only one who has been poor in that regards. He's been as good if not better than TK over the last two weeks and been instrumental in the midfield. His kicking a decision making has been poor at times but his contested and clearance work has been massive. Like I said above, his best period of footy coincided when he was inside. He genuinely goes missing when he has to play more of an outside role and not a Gaff like accumulating wingmen.

Bit difficult given we only have 2 contested beasts ( on our list ) and they didn’t play. Sheed isnt exactly the best in that area.

Still, good bloody , I thought their midfield was going to result in them smashing us.

Port will be interesting game, coming off a 6 day break.

Yep and who's fault is that ?
I will give you a hint.

The problem with not winning enough contested ball has been prevalent for several years now.

As are these two other aspects of our game:

* As far a tackling side goes, we are piss poor at laying and breaking tackles..... I would like a dollar for every missed tackle that I have watched in the last five seasons.

* Likewise the number of occasions when we get beaten in a two on one ... a three on two ..... and its goes on and on, the number of times when we have the advantage of numbers at the contest, only for us to be beaten when the odds are in our favour.
There are two sorts of players:
1. Those who sacrifice getting a possession, by take the opposition out, therefore allowing their team mate, clear access to the ball and a speedy exit passage.
2. Those who hang out waiting and expecting their team mate to go in and get the hard ball ....... out to them.
The first attitude is possessed by players with a " TEAM FIRST " attitude.
Conversely the seagulls that keep yelling " give it to me , give it to me ", they are what I call the players with the " HERO " attitude.
If we were to improve our contested possession count by 10 %.
Improve our ability to lay tackles by 10 %.
Increase our preparedness to do the " TEAM FIRST " things and abandon the " HERO " attitude by 10 %.
Then we would improve our ladder position at seasons end, by 3-5 places.

Out:
Vardy - He's lost out there. It was very obvious at the ground that he has no idea where to go. 4 touches following last weeks 3 proves it.
Langdon - Is he really slow paced? There was a play in the 1st qtr where the ball was kicked for him to run onto. He had a good 5m head start on 2 bulldogs players only for both of them to zoom past him. Hamish Brayshaw levels of slowness.

In:
Don't really know who comes in. Is Shuey fit? Williams? Waterman? Doesn't matter. The above two need to be dropped regardless.

So it comes down to both recruitment and coaching?

I might be splitting hairs here: but add to that the third facet - It's player development, which technically should be managed under the coaching banner.

Can't see changes because Williams isn't available neither is Shuey. Waterman is more likely to return via the WAFL. Cameron isn't available and Petch is well average. Vardy isn't going to stay in the team once Williams is available unfortunately we probably have to carry him ATM.

Looking for some help here

Who would take the following match ups

Dixon
Ladhams
Georgedias

And if they also play Marshall on top of the above

Georgiades

Who also goes to Fantasia and Rozee/Butters/Gray

Cheers

Why?

We are effectively playing as a 21 man team, with only 17 on the field for 50-60% game time.

We'd be better off borrowing Caleb Daniel off the Bulldogs and using him as ruck when NicNat is off than persisting like this.

I'd almost, almost rather recall Priddis into the side. At least he could gather a contested possession (which he would immediately butcher, but at least its a stat!).

Pretty much because Edwards and Jamieson are the only two other options. Edwards only started in the ruck group this year and Jamieson is a skinny kid who was injured preseason who would be the last option on our list. Vardy is very average but we don't have a real choice this week.

Only watched bits and pieces of this one, will watch the full replay tomorrow, but the second ruck situation is killing us.

I like Vardy and would love to see him turn it around, but having a second ruck who is only on the ground for 50% game time and getting a handful of touches, is absolutely torching us.

I'm a big fan of Simmo (as pretty much all of us are), but he is stubbornly sticking to this selection policy. Publicly he has been backing Vardy, which is what you want a coach to do, but privately he must know that this is killing us.

Which begs the question - why does he think a next-to-useless Vardy is better than a makeshift ruck and an extra mid? Is it because he's worried about gameday structures?

I mean, Simmo has eyes and can read a stat sheet. I wouldnt want him potting players in the media, but what exactly is the thought process here?

Amazing isn't it? Its taken the opposition a decade to realize he can be so easily tagged out of a game.

He wasn't tagged last week vs Fold Coast, he was just shit. That's from Simmos mouth and me watching at the ground.

Not sure what his excuse is this week. Who tagged him? Nowhere has suggested he was tagged, people are just assuming.

I don't blame Vardy.

I blame Williams for injuring himself in a stupid way and hindering his own development.

I was listening to Mark Readings on a podcast last week. He said that during the preseason a basketball ring was installed at Lathlain and Simpson gave express orders that no one attempt a slam dunk.

Nek minnit....

Is that how it panned out with Williams?
