That too, but Cox is in the best decision to make the right call. Whether he wants to be truthful about that call is another question.

Yeah that's what I worry about a bit. He almost seems stubborn from the outside, when questioned about retirement. It's like he almost laughs at it and says no chance. He needs to start thinking about the future of the team and not his own interests. Being the ruck coach maybe he has thought about it and still thinks he is a better option for the team this season.

What about drafting a guy to be a project ruck after you trade Sinclair? Thus avoiding having to ruck JK.

Yep - I'd be happy with that - in fact it makes sense. And if Cox goes get a ready replacement like Johnson as well.

4 rucks would be a minimum

However - you stated
Do we stand a chance of getting someone better than him as a back-up if we trade him?

Should we find a project ruck, they are highly unlikely to be better than Sinclair for 2015 - they may be over a few years - but not until 2017+

Fair call on my slightly contradictory statement, agreed r.e. 4 rucks minimum. If we lose Sinclair for a second/third rounder then we could look at (assuming we wouldnt look until the 3/4th round and RD) Cripps and McLaren. Unsure about picking up Johnson, is there anyone else running around the WAFL that we could rookie with a longer term view?

I'm opposed to listing Johnson even as a depth ruckman. Recruit a kid and make do with McInnes or McGovern in the ruck in the short term, if need be. Get games into the players already on the list.

If Mcgovern continues his form up forward/down back I wouldn't really want to see him forced into the ruck. I know he rucked a fair bit at WAFL level, but its a different ball park at AFL level. It could really hinder his development/confidence ala Chris Dawes.

If we see it as a problem we need to address I'd like to see us split the difference and draft a mature, but still young ruckman (22/23ish) like we did with Sinclair, and Carlton did with Rowe.

Lycett is a much better footballer than Sinclair, his performance against Gold Coast was pretty good. Sinclair is judged by most people on these forums as not having a ceiling anywhere near Lycett's. Sure Sinclair can take a mark, but his kicking isnt fantastic.

There's a whole thread on Lycett vs Sinclair and 75% of punters are in Lycett's corner - Sinclair is worth more to us in his trade value, especially considering how many clubs need a ruck/fwd type. If we traded him and Cox retired we would need to draft a ruck/fwd and keep McInness to cover depth.

75% of punters flip-flop every other weekend, depending on which one played a blinder or played average.

imo we need to keep both.

When we last played St Kilda we went in too tall.

We had an injury early and had to bring on a tall as sub which left our side completely unbalanced and we were lucky to get over the line.

Simpson is stuck between a rock and a hard place - because you want to pick blokes in form - however they are all talls at the moment which simply doesn't work.
There's a guy called Colledge and another guy called Tunbridge.

Obviously you dont watch the wafl games

Which one do you prefer long term and why?
Colledge finds the ball hard at it , is quick when on the outside to clear congestion
and has a huge tank is quite tall .. Tunbridge is ok , in my opinion Will Maginness will push up He and Colledge work hard and have really good skills . We will have a strong midfield with colledge maginness , shuey plus all the others

He is contracted - so if we can't get a favourable trade then we keep him

And no - why would someone better than Sinclair go to a side to be back up? It doesn't make sense

If we were short on the list for a year - then rookie someone like Paul Johnson - may not be much chop - but saves you having to ruck Josh Kennedy should injury strike
Sure I read somewhere Paul Johnson did not want to be a rookie , dont think he even nominates to be drafted

I'm an East Perth member and watch my team and IMHO Lycett is a superior footballer to Sinclair. He is also younger and has more of a future.
Watching East Perth what are your thoughts on Tunbridge and Colledge?
Do they move like midfielders or are they more suited to life as a tall KPP or flank?
Do you think they can make the transition to a AFL mid?

Ive been harping on about this kid for weeks no ones listening, has a great turn of pace as well.
I'm listening Lucky Luc

I'm compiling positive comments about him, and your thoughts will be recorded forevermore in his Player Thread.

Personally from what i have seen College is more of a mid and Tunbridge more of a 3rd tall who has stints in the midfield.

WAFL domination isnt everything. Lycett and Sinclair stats are similar. Those who watch the games state that Lycett is the better footballer, as much as Sinclairs recent dominance may counter that.
Lycett is the better ruckman, Sinclair is the better forward, pretty straight forward, very similar players otherwise, both pretty good big men.
