Simpson seemed to imply that it was worse than Selwood had let on. There's a line between courageous and stupidity, and not fully disclosing the extent of an injury crosses it for mine.

Yeah I got the feeling he was walking a tight rope there in that he wanted is disappointed but he wanted to make it sound like they were all in on it so no stories could start.
I find it difficult to believe it a coincidence that the week he says the team lacks leadership that Glass retires, Cox gets rested and Selwood finally deals with an ankle injury that has been bothering him.

We will smash St Kilda if we play like we did yesterday. But if we come out slow and let them kick the first few, it could be a repeat of the Carlton match. Need to put them away in the first half.

Like we did with GCS?

I'm more concerned about our conversion and i50 skills. We weren't that great in those areas against GCS, we should have been much farther in front at half time and into the third qtr. It's the same problem we've had the entire year. I'm confident we'll put ourselves in a position to dominate the game, but if we don't convert that into score, i'm also positive we'll give them a chance at some stage to put on a run of goals.

Is anyone else keen to see what Ash Smith can bring to the table in the forward 50? Cripps is having a pretty lean run and Smith has poaches a few goals for EP lately. Cant hurt

Cripps needs to stay in. Had a quiet few weeks but he's having a good season. He has speed, a bit of x-factor and an eye for goal. Reckon he'll develop into a very handy player.

Sorry but cant play Cripps & Lecras in the same forward line , they play a very similar role and both have had little impact lately so its a toss of the coin for me,Although Lecras is due for a big game at Ethihad .

If his WAFL form has been good then i don't see why not, a lot of our fringe players have improved since Simpson moved over. Smith could be one of them.

Saints haven't won in 7 weeks and been smashed in their past 6 encounters. We are a bottom 10 interstate team traveling to play them at their home ground. This is their best opportunity to get a win in quite a while so I'm expecting them to go all out.

I really hope we aren't complacent because I see this as a real danger game (well, any game for us is a danger game right now).

Anyway, I hope Mackenzie can get off the leash this time and kick a couple on Riewoldt. Riewoldt did a pretty good job to keep him goalless in round 3.

Don't know how some Saint fans are so confident.

Anyway, this game will be win or lost in the clearances IMO. Geelong won the hit-outs 63-21, yet St Kilda won the clearances 38-31. This would be fine if Yeo was still in the side, he has been solid in getting first hands to the ball and really helps Priddis out in that area.

GC are starting to run out of steam after a stellar start to the season. Add to that a massive road trip to a ground where they've never won against a team they've never beat and we should have accounted for them by 3-5 goals at home.

But we only won by less than a goal, kicked in the last couple of minutes. Our inability to remain switched on for more than 2 quarters against decent opposition/away from home will continue to cost us I think.

Yeo out is massive. Saints will have genuine belief/confidence going into this because of their fine performance at Subi in round 3. At this stage, I'm tipping the Saints by 2-3 goals.

EDIT: Forgot changes:

OUT - Yeo, Butler
IN - Shuey, Colledge

MAYBE also replace Cripps with Smith. But I haven't watched enough WAFL so can't usefully comment on that.

Yet kicked 6 unanswered goals in the last quarter - doesn't suggest a team tiring.

Just a team that up until our game had been winning all the games against sides they are better than and losing to the ones they aren't quite as good as.

Yeah, you're probably right. Their slow start might have been more of a travel issue. The 6 unanswered goals say a lot more about than it does about them.

Out: Yeo (inj), Butler (inj), Schofield (unlucky)
In: Shuey, Colledge, Cox

Taking out three defenders, and replacing them with a mid, utility and ruckman, does not balance.

My opinion of what will happen (although I don't agree with omitting Lycett for Cox).

Glad you don't agree with Lysett being dropped - he stepped up brilliantly in the second half.

Outs: Yeo, Butler

In: College, Shuey

Bennell Emac Schofield
Hurn Brown Shep

Rosa Priddis Gaff

Masten Mcgovern Darling
Lecra JK Cripps

Ruck: Nic Nat, Shuey, Wellingham

Bench: Lycett,College,Hutchings Sub: Ellis

- Wasn't sure about the sub and Cripps could sub too if needed.
- I do hope Yeo is only out for a week at the most.
- Let college have a crack in the center.
- Keep playing Darling for stints in the midfield and yes he doesn't look the best there but he does use his bigger body to help out and he is still adjusting to the new role.
- Wellingham to tag one of the mids...not sure who at the moment.
- Rosa to be the 7th defender to help out.

We should win this by 40+ surely.

"We will smash them..." Pfft I hardly think so. They pushed us all the way the first time we played them, and that was at home too. We also had a fit Yeo, Shuey and Selwood (meh) for that game.

The fact saints were paying 7 bucks for the win this morning is incredible.

I'd chuck a smooth pineapple on that sucker
