A strong yes to R2 for Buus and Carbine Chaos boy Garcia. Garcia can really football, it would be great to see him have an injury free run.

JJ is a strong no for me. Partly due to age and I also don't think he'd be much of an upgrade on our JJ. (More pressure in our defense generally)

Brayden Crossley is the other I'd be looking at strongly from VFL.
JJ is a far better kick than well… JJ.

Riley Garcia has been absolutely tearing up the VFL for Footscray. 23 yo WA boy out of contract end of this year and is going to struggle to break into dogs midfield. Would love to try and get him over with Buss for our 2R.

Lol, pick 19 for Riley Garcia?

That’d go down as one of the most hilariously bad deals of all time.

Smillie is ready for AFL . Plug in play
Smillie seems worthy of number 1.

My only doubt, how much can we assume being a man amongst boys is helping him dominate games?

I remember Patton and Boyd rated highly because they ragdolled the competition. He will still be a very good player but is he really the best?

He’s playing pretty well amongst some pretty big blokes atm and going fine.
I’d be guessing but probably has had about a dozen possessions at half time and at pretty good efficiency. Poor shot at goal on the run from 50m.

Already 194cm and may grow some more.

Is he just a tall mid or can he play elsewhere? Nice to have positional flexibility at his size

How would another big inside mid fit into what we already have?

He is the sort team may fall for in a big way and drive up the value of pick 1 or pick 2.

To be fair, our JJ is usually having to bite of more than he can chew due to extra pressure and lack of another creative runner.
Should we switch JJ's, our one would play better and theirs worse imo.

We can do better I recon.

Travagilia came to life in the third was really solid in defence.

Camporeale boys rack the touch’s up but again Father son picks for the blues.

I think it’s 7 out of today’s squad aren’t in the main draft pool. And it’s not compromised just complex hey.
Yep excluding KPDs Travaglia and Hotton are absolutely my picks at this early stage if we get a couple of selections in the teens.

Smillie and FOS go 1-2 at the moment. We could absolutely use FOS but if Smillie ends up the clear #1 and we can get a king’s ransom for him I’d rather split the pick due to our midfield mix already. Even if FOS ends up #1 I’m leaning towards splitting, assuming we have it.
How can you lean toward splitting the pick when you don't even know what the offers will remotely look like and how the first round is tracking? Would've though last years draft would've made it clear that you take the best available talent until you're presented an offer too good to refuse. All premature talk of splitting the pick does is degrade the negotiating position of the team wanting to split if everyone knows that's what they're trying to do.

My original post says IF we got a king’s ransom in reference to splitting the pick. Last year’s draft had Harley and you’re well aware that both your and my strong position on that was consistent the whole way through. This year at this early stage my opinion is that we will be more inclined to split, it’s just an opinion. It also doesn’t mean that will be my position come draft time and I certainly don’t think that the bargaining position of the eagles will change because of my posts. Of course Clarke, Massey and co. will again be singing how it would take an extraordinary offer for us to part with it, that’s bargaining 101.

Has the club said anything about splitting or not?

Or just the media and the folks on here?

I think Ash is a FA isn't he mate? Looks good again this game, just the type we need.
Some more will have to shake loose from GWS.

Derksen might be another actually. (Not FA I don't think though but could be worth a shaking a few trees)
Ash is only 22 and not a FA? Agree there will be a heap of GWS players who we could make a play for with more cash in the coming years.
