Agree on Mraz but I just do not know about his foot problem. We can afford to speculate with a late pick but not with a pick in the 20's.
We can't afford to speculate on anyone.

Did we know how bad Hewetts foot was, did we know the extent of A.Reid's knee injury? Or did we draft them with eyes wide open and take the punt anyway?

We have to nail as many picks inside the top 30 as possible. Ideally 4, preferably 5. You're early post where we go into the draft with 5 12 14 23 28 is what we should be striving for, although I really want 'The Sid' so keeping 3 would limit that.

Have we heard of any surprise eagles players wanting out, come exit interviews? I find it intriguing about our club, in how few have wanted out in the last 4 seasons, considering how shit we are.

Watching the exodus at the tigers and the rumours I've heard with the dees (....there's more than petracca!), it's amazing we've 'kept the band together' for so long.

You kidding? Best job ever playing for the Eagles the last 4 years. Good money, Low standards, No accountability required.

Leave to go elsewhere and you have to earn your money.

Huge difference.

Are you guys set for key defenders at this stage?

----

Another prolific performance from a Dragons player on the weekend, this time Luke Trainor who found a stack of the footy rebounding out of defense and using his elite running power to get involved in possession chains through the middle of the ground. His disposal was a little mixed at times, but his overhead marking was strong throughout which should help to quell some of the concerns about that part of his game.

Sorry but we don’t like Trainor because of the incident with our boy TT 👎

Not big on Trainor at all so would be keener on O’Farrell, Mraz, Gerreyn, Barrat and Dennis but as always the footage is much appreciated 👍

We definitely need a high end young key defender with TB departing and Gov having 1-2 years left

I like Trainor but not at pick 3, if we somehow got the Suns pick 5, I’d be fine with picking him.

We tend to take our high end key defenders with late picks though.

Personally wouldn't be happy to lose 3 to downgrade to 5. The mids I would personally want are then all gone and the most talented one or other left either doesn't want to leave Melbourne or has shown very little this year.

Lalor is coming from quite a long way back fitness wise but if he finishes the year off strongly I could very well see him being GC pick 3 in that scenario.

Also Richmond aren't going to accept not getting anything less than 13 & 20 for Rioli.

Under allowing GC to trade up I could very well see the draft going

1. Smith
2. Smillie (huge point of difference for North)
3. Lalor (no go home issues and their inside looks set as it'll likely take 4 years before he goes from a HF position to mid)
4. Draper (I can't see Adelaide drafting anyone else)

Murphy Reid who I have top 4 on talent is the second biggest flight risk in the draft after Hotton. I mean he's an easy pick at 5 on talent but it's a big risk. FOS as I've stated before I see as a HB at AFL level. However with his athletic profile it will only take 1 or 2 games for him to be right back at the top of the pile. If he doesn't even have 1 very good game before the end of the year it screams warning signs to me.

Travaglia is doing well against men and may well be best available discounting those players but I'm not happy spending a top 5 pick on him. Bo Allan to me has some great attributes and the exact ones I like for a winger but if he moves to HB at the next level does he have the kicking skills is my question. He's a good kick but not elite, fast, great overhead and I may be biased here but I don't see him making it inside.

Where as if we had 3 and 5 and selected Draper at 3 I think Adelaide goes pure mid and looks at the upside and drafts FOS leaving the highest rated Mid/Forward to us.

We tend to take our high end key defenders with late picks though.

Feel like times have changed in the last few years, key defenders are going to become more common to take at the pointy end of drafts.

Not sure we’ll be getting another Gov via the rookie draft anytime soon.

Just about always a gun defender in the 2nd round though.

Yes to a key defender, do you have anything on Clancy Dennis form W.A would be pretty popular on this board?

The TB trade needs to be done day one.

Tb for Hawks first rounder then haggle over more for a Max 1 day.

Tb must not be an eagle in 2025. It would be utter calamity

It doesn’t need to be done day one nor is it a calamity if Barrass remains an Eagle in 2025

What is imperative is that we extract maximum value for a contracted player looking to change clubs with 3 years remaining on his contract

If that means we hold out until the last day then so be it. Ball’s in Hawthorn’s court since they’re the ones actively pursuing him

Why are people worried about Draper not lasting to our pick 3? He’s projected at going 7-9 by Twomey who is pretty much bang on every year with the top 10 order..

Also no doubt Tigers and Norf will take Victorian players ahead with their picks?

I think Draper, FOS and Lalor will all be available at 3, which also makes 5 very appealing. If Crows are desperate for Draper we also might be able to extract very good value for a one pick slide and still get FOS and Lalor.

Expecting Tigers to take Smith and North to take Smillie.

Imo we need to somehow get some more picks in between 5-20

Are we savvy enough to do some wheeling and dealing and actually get very busy during trade week for once or are we going to sit on our heads again while other clubs go out and make shit happen and find gems?

Are we going to typically fold and take anything for Barrass or be ruthless like all the other clubs are all while giving up a high pick for Bolton on day 1 because we’re nice guys?

God I hope we don’t stuff this crap up again, I’m completely over it now

id even take a f3 or something small to move back in that situation. Anything at all tbh, whatever we can squeeze out but id 100% do the trade

One that may not be getting much traction but I know clubs are interested in is Connor Evans.
Kid is very dependable as a mid-sized defender. Very good interceptor for his height, usually piercing and accurate kick.
Just needs to get more of the pill averaging 13 disposals a game at Talent League. Also was injured going into the Champs so unable to have a run for Country despite being in the Squad. But the kid is class when he is involved.
Wouldn't surprise me if he gets picked up late (or as a rookie).
